9 Goodgymers ran, walked and cycled 5km to Spencer Park to assist with tidying the park, ready for warmer weather and more daylight!
Our task for the evening was to give the playground markings a good scrub with brushes and warm soapy water. Although they didn't look too dirty, as soon as we began scrubbing, the dirt lifted to reveal the bright colours of the hopscotch, maze and snake designs. We took it in turns to fill up buckets of water, scrub and hold the lights so others could see what they were doing.
On the way back to the Coventry Boys and Girls Club, we stopped by the statue of James Starley for a 'meet and retreat', running at a moderate effort towards your partner, high fiving and running back. Before stretching, we tried to spell out our names with our toes whilst standing on one leg - a great exercise for developing stability!

7 Goodgymers ran 5km to Spencer Park to help the Friends of the Spencer Park to help with seasonal maintenance at the park.
After a welcome talk from our new Area Activator, Laura and a warm up led by former AA Liz, we set off for a short run through the city centre, under the ring road and over the railway line to get to Spencer park.
Our task for the evening was to remove the netting from the tennis courts as we are coming to the end of the season, sweep the tennis courts and sweep around the pavilion. We split into two groups, with Debora, Maddie and
Jade (welcome!), rolling and Robert,
Laura and Liz sweeping around the pavilion.
Once our task was complete, we did a speedy relay in two groups under pink and blue street lights, and then made our way back to our start location.
Welcome to GoodGym Jade we hope to see you again soon and well done Robert for completing 10 good deeds!

8 Goodgymers ran 4.5km to Spencer Park to support the Friends of Spencer Park with maintaining the tennis courts. Our task for the evening was to try to sweep up the moss and twigs so that the well-used tennis courts are ready for the season and the warmer weather!
Once we had finished sweeping as best we could, we paired up and did a 'meet and retreat' session around the tennis courts to help us get ready for all of those summer PBs!
Welcome to GoodGym Archie it was lovely to meet you this evening and welcome back John good to see you after a few weeks off!
Good luck to everyone racing this weekend!

What a lovely way to spend a slightly wind and rainy Tuesday night! We love visiting Spencer Park and loved helping out tonight clearing up leaves and cutting back ivy so the paths and tennis courts are clear. The sky was beautiful and the company was awesome too. It was great to meet Maddie at her first goodgym task. Great to see Vickie back too :)
As the light was fading quickly, we met at the task, completed the task and then went for a run.

On Tuesday evening, 4 GoodGym Coventry runners met at Spencer Park to support the Friends of Spencer Park.
As the rain had fallen heavily most of the afternoon, the planned task was adapted so that we could sweep the leaves from the court.
Although the rain threatened to return, we stayed mainly dry as we swept the courts and caught up with events from the weekend. It was great to hear about Laura's virtual London marathon achievements, Vic returning to actual work buildings and Meera's mission.
When it started to get too dark, we completed the task and set off a 4km run. It was lovely to be back getting fit again with friends.

Six of us came to help out in one of our regular and favourite places, Spencer Park. We joined the lovely Friends of Spencer Park to help clear leaves and litter, and do some digging and levelling of soil for a new garden area. The weather was kind to us this evening. Looking forward to the next mission with our lovely team :) Graeme was our Great Leveller, going solo with the digging ,and is now a Task force member! Great to have you on board Graeme :)
Vic and Vickie were a dab hand with the brooms, and Lilian , Deb and Liz left no cigarette butts in sight. It was especially nice to see Vicky who hasn't been able to come on a Tuesday for a while. 😁 Until next time!
