Super fun yet long day volunteering as part of the GRIT Studios and The Coping CIC Move a Mile event in Stockport.
Initially helped set up some of gazebos and silent disco, before setting near the bus station with the bubble lady, some live music, and preparing for the skate race and flash mob.
Lots of smiling faces and families enjoying the activities as I helped with directions, maps, and general help.
At the end of the day, I helped lug speakers and gazebos back to their storage spot. Great to see so many people!

This week, five GoodGymers returned to Grit Studios’ newly acquired building to add the finishing touches of paint, completing the transformation of the space.
Having already made a strong start last week, the team came back with plenty of energy to finish off the job.
Together they added the final coats, brightening every corner and leaving the rooms looking fresh, welcoming, and ready for creativity to take root.
The building is now almost ready to open its doors as a community hub for art projects, workshops, and exhibitions — a space where Stockport residents and artists alike can come together to collaborate and create.

Stockport’s creative future is looking brighter — literally! Tonight, five GoodGymers rolled up their sleeves (and maybe a few paint-splattered cuffs) to help transform Grit Studios’ newest space, recently acquired from Stockport Council, into a welcoming hub for community art projects.
Armed with rollers, brushes, and boundless enthusiasm, the team brought fresh white colour and energy to the walls, turning a once-empty building into a space brimming with possibility.
Between brush strokes, ideas flowed for exhibitions, workshops, and creative collaborations that will soon fill the rooms.
This new home will be a place where artists, residents, and curious visitors can come together to make, share, and celebrate art in all its forms.
Grit Studios is hugely grateful to the volunteers whose hard work has painted the first strokes in this exciting new chapter for Stockport’s creative community.
