Its hard to believe that, there's nobody out there.

Its hard to believe we've all been at home.

And our City of Oxford, is covered in rubbish.

Lonely no more as, we picked some today

Under the Bridge in our town

GoodGymers picked away

8 GoodGymers cleared up a mountain of rubbish under the Southern Bypass in Rivermead Nature Reserve, Rose Hill. There was a big selection of rusty bike parts, engines, cans and frying pans, mouldy coats and sleeping bags. We often find pants on litter picks, this was no exception.. but this time we came across possibly our first bra (I think)! More cans, bottles, a supermarket trolley it went on and on I'm glad we shifted it! Well done to everyone who lugged it up the hill to the ring road and across to our collection point

We inspired a local Rivermead resident Laura to do her own pick also nearby at the allotments she got 2 big bags and a broken chair to add to our collection :)

Another Trevor collected the rubbish (I'm always amazed to find them!), and we reckon about 50 big bags, plus a load of metal things.. so a big haul!

Today’s group run began with a mini good deed, as a few early bird GoodGymers helped to move a stage at East Oxford Community Centre (our GoodGym home). We are always on duty!

The main task for the evening was to deliver leaflets around Iffley village promoting Cosy Homes Oxfordshire. Cosy Homes is a home retrofit initiative supported by the Low Carbon Hub. Their services would benefit many of the houses in Iffley, which can be old, draughty and expensive to heat. Our group of intrepid runners split up to deliver as many leaflets as we could, while getting major house envy and planning which one we would buy if we ever won the lottery! We regrouped at the foot of Abberbury Road (…aka The Big Hill). We ran up to the top in a sort of leaflet-delivering relay, and delivered all the leaflets with time to spare, which meant…

…there was time for some games! The first game was “Lamp posts” (not its official name, but it’s what I’m calling it!). In a test of our running, jogging and counting skills, the game involved jogging down the hill for a certain number of lamp posts, then sprinting back up to the top, with the number of lamp posts increasing each time. The second game was “King of the Hill”. Ben was duly crowned King, and claims his prize of getting a mention in this run report. (Better than a medal, wouldn’t you say?)

After the games...

After the games it was time to head back to base, with of course a couple of stops for star jumps along the way! (Or were they jumping jacks? Please refer to Sarah for clarification!)

On the home straight Trev caught the eye of some quite saucily dressed young men (students in women’s underwear… and nothing else), when they encouraged him with shouts of “Go on, Mo Farah!” We also sometimes struggle to tell the difference 😉

9 Goodgymers joined about 100 people to plant almost 600 Trees, which this week in total for the Oxford projects, will join 2,500 trees planed in various locations in our city! Woop woop and wow! :)

The trees we planted today were Oak, Wayfarer, Birch, Spindle, White beam, Hazel, and Cherry, and form part of the recreation field behind Rose Hill Community Center.

GoodGymers welcomed, dug, planted, moved Mulch.. “Mulch Ado about Nothing”, “It’s All About the Mulch ‘bout the Mulch, no trouble”! We watched the Nepalese Community in Rose Hill describe how to plant trees in their native language to those who didn’t speak English! <3 We also ate biscuits and drank coffee.. Ben joined us for his birthday.. Epic thing to do.. Happy Birthday Ben.. I believe he planted 15 or possible closer to 20 trees in the end!

Welcome to our new GoodGymers! Emily, Dylan and Welcome back to a few familiar faces great to see John with his young family. Sometimes other things get in the way of coming to GoodGym every week!! it was amazing to see you all.
