Welcome to Richmond Furniture Scheme. Your local furniture recycling charity based in Twickenham, where you can find good value for money and quality second-hand furniture! Richmond Furniture Scheme is a small charitable organisation set up to help people in need by collecting donated furniture in good condition from the Richmond borough area and reusing it. A small charge is made to those people that are referred.
But to ensure that all donated furniture is reused, and to help make the Scheme more self-sufficient, the Scheme is open to sell furniture to all people residing in the Richmond Borough.
65 GoodGymers have supported Richmond Furniture Scheme with 33 tasks.

For our final visit to RFS of 2024 Adam, Chris, Harrison and JP were tasked by Volunteer Co-Ordinator Lucy to give the delivery van a much needed clean start.
Armed with a hose, sponges, washing up liquid and buckets we set about getting amongst it.
Chris, with his extra height, certainly could get the hard to reach spots, while also alternating with JP on hose duty, although at times soaking fellow Good Gymers Harrison and Adam, unintentionally of course! 😉
Harrison and Adam, meanwhile focused on the more intricate details of tyres, mirrors and windows and we finished up by giving it a thorough hose down.
Overall a job well done, ensuring a clean start heading into 2025 with the RFS.

Before commencing on our chopping spree, Adam, JP and Rosie welcomed Dom , who was taking part in his first Good Gym task, having found out about us through our Instagram account.
RFS Volunteer Coordinator Lucy then subsequently advised us that our spree should contain ivy, which was over growing on the fence around the side, and clearing the gutter pipes (which JP soon discovered had plenty of sludge as the pictures will show.)
Thankfully the weather held up otherwise the our spree would had proved significantly more challenging.
Overall the ivy was successfully defeated, that is until the next spree!

Two Good Gymers turned out for our monthly visit to the Richmond Furniture Scheme.
Both Adam and Chris were welcomed by RFS CEO Simon this morning, who had clearly done a local park run, and wasted no time in getting on with the morning tasks.
Firstly we moved wood into the workshop so it could be reused, with the aid of the trusty removable furniture sleigh. Next, with same method, we cleared some items from the scouts car park to be recycled.
It was then on to the main challenge of the morning, to clear the overgrown ivy at the side of the RFS building.
Armed with Edward Scissor hand like shears, both Adam and Chris gave it a successful trim, making it as shear as day.
We will be back next month to finish the job!

Five Good Gymers turned out for our monthly visit to the Richmond Furniture Scheme.
First off, we welcomed Tamas to Good Gym for his first ever task having heard about us originally a few years ago through Whole Foods in Richmond.
We were subsequently assigned by the Volunteer Coordinator Lucy the tasks of breaking up and recycling a wardrobe, sweeping the yard, which both JP and Tomas undertook with appropriate brooms, as well as removing the various weeds and litter, which was done by Adam, Chris and Rosie.
We also had the additional task of trying to find the magnetic pick up tool, which Tamas was able to attract! This was then used for picking up the excess metal.
The yard was magnetically cleared!

A warm but overcast Saturday morning welcomed 3 GGers to the Richmond Furniture Scheme where task owner Simon was ready with a task for us - moving a pile of heavy vinyl flooring rolls to behind their shed.
First up, a cup of tea. Self-respecting removers won’t starting lifting anything without one.
Then, we got going. Those rolls were so heavy they must have broken vinyl records. But with the aid of a small trolley, a fair bit of heft and our cups of tea, we managed to get them all moved and stacked up behind the shed.
There were 8 rolls in all and we were pretty pooped when we finished - but we had a bit of time left so did a bit of fence-weeding to leave the area tidy, and off we went to enjoy our Saturday.
Next time up at the RFS is on 17th August. Sign up here: https://www.goodgym.org/v3/sessions/helping-richmond-furniture-scheme-to-support-others-c3bbd1ab-caf7-439f-a598-e47e293b381f

Three Good Gymers turned out for our monthly visit to the Richmond Furniture Scheme.
Once Adam, Rebecca and JP arrived , in the rather not summer conditions, we were briefed by RFS CEO Simon about the task at hand, which was to move a few purchased furniture items into the sold shed area with the aid of the moving trolley.
Once these were successfully manoeuvred and in place, we were to recycle the screws from two wardrobes, which needed to be disposed of.
JP certainly proved adept with the mallet and the electric screwdriver, while Rebecca used the rather more delicate approach of the manual screwdriver. Both proved equally effective. Adam, meanwhile, attempted a bit of both!
Overall a job well done!
