Tonight, Laura organised our task, which was leafleting for Sustrans, or Lenny (more on that in a bit)
We had Jo join us from GG Exeter, swopping the Devon delights for the Brum fun!
Rob led the way to the Ostler play area, were we met our walker Miriam. Laura had a route planned, so we split into two groups to deliver the leaflets. Rob took a selfie and picture of me doing something then we headed back.
The Lenny bit, is the fact Lenny Henry was at the launch of the bench in the park last week, which prior to that we had done a litter pick to make it look all spic and span :) Please see the picture with Lenny, Miriam and Laura from the unveiling last week.
Once back at 1000 Trades we had a quick stretch and joined Miriam in the pub.

Tonight was Laura's task. Yep she was leading us to the park were Sustrans would be revealing their new bench tomorrow, with Lenny Henry, Ellie Simmonds and Jane Sixthsmith were in attendance, well sort of........their were some statues of them :)
The task was to make the area look spic and span for tomorrow. Laura led the way with myself, Tom and Rob following. We were then joined at the task by our Central team members Theresa and Nada. Also our walker Sofeen. Too our surprise their wasn't too much litter, but we sussed out what was there, before a few pics, then heading back to 1000 Trades.

3 GoodGymer's joined the Charity Sustrans for a little pick in Osler Street Park, which was organised by Ruth from Sustrans and our very own Laura from both GoodGym and Sustrans!
Sustrans are custodians of the National Cycling Network and are installing some amazing portrait benches to the network, featuring local heroes immortalised as life-sized steel figures. The one for Birmingham is being installed in Osler Street park and will feature Sir Lenny Henry, Jane Sixsmith and Ellie Simmonds - as voted on by local residents.
Our job was to help make the area look nice before the art work is installed by undertaking a little pick.
We went off in groups of 2 so that one of us could hold open the rubbish bag and the other could litter pick. We found lots of parts from used fireworks, as well as lots of food packaging and even a broken vinyl record - hence the pun!
We managed to fill a couple of bags and make the area look cleaner ahead of the artwork being installed.
It was good fun and great to catch up with Laura and Louise, with Louise coming straight from setting a PB at Edgbaston parkrun (woohoo, well done!) and it will be exciting to see when the artwork is installed :)

Last night we welcomed Michael back from York Goodgym to do the same task he helped us with just over a year ago now!
The task was to help Sustrans cleaning the National Cycle Network signs along the canal towpath. Laura provided the wipes to clean all the signs we could catch along the way. John and Tom led the way, with Liam as backmarker after his Chicago Marathon and 3 weeks off from running.
After we had caught all the NCN signs we could find with a few jumps to clean some of them along the way, we headed back to base along the Soho loop. This is when Rob decided to make the group stop along the way to do a hill session.
This involves hard running up the hill, a turn at the top where Liam decided to stand, after each sprint up Liam took it upon himself to move ever so slightly back to increase the distance of the hill, thanks for that Liam!!! We did this for two 2-minute sessions, every did a fantastic job with Laura and Morwenna pulling each other along.
After everyone had caught their breaths back, it was time to head back to base to rehydrate with a lovely beverage at 1000 trades.
We will be back next week doing more good deeds, it would be great to see you there.

Tonights run was organised by Laura as we were doing a leaflet drop for Sustrans again. She told us were they leaflets needed going and we all did the delivering.
We ran up towards Edgbaston Reservoir, taking in a bit of the canal, before finding our street for our deliveries. We were all done in super quick time, so we headed back to do our fitness session.
Tonight was a pyramid session....30 secs, 45, 1 minute, 1 minute, 45 secs, 30 secs, all off 30 secs rest. What's more I (Jonny) joined in tonight! A good workout was had by all. Straight after Balal (head of photography operations) got a good selfie in before we headed back to 1000 Trades. Oh and this weeks pun was thought up by Morwenna (head of pun operations).
In total we did a good 7k and on arrival back we were greeted by Miriam (head of social operations). Great task and top workout everyone :)

Tonight we had an exciting new task, courtesy of Laura, who organised some leafleting for the people who create cycle networks all over the country Sustrans.
We had two sets of leaflets to deliver so off we went jogging a long before stopping at various streets and doing more jogging delivering plenty of leaflets. We must have delivered the best part of 500 in total!
Once done the group did a hill session, 6 efforts up hill with an easy jog down. Laura led the way powering up the hill while Ben and Morwenna pushed on just behind. Once done we took a steady jog back to 1000 Trades.
Believe it or not that is GG Brum's first ever leafleting task and it certainly got a big thumbs up from everyone involved, so if you know of any local charities/community organisations who need some leaflets delivered GG Brum can do it :)
