Once a-pun a time....
Some of you may know this already but this is the school that my children attend and the task came about after the school put a shout out for parents to come help tidy it up one Sunday afternoon. A few parents came along that day but there were still plenty of tasks that needed doing hence our visit tonight. The Langley Academy Primary also connects a fair few of the GoodGym team as Nisha, Sut and Harsha also are GG members and TLAP parents.
Our primary role tonight was to tidy up planter bed by removing the grass, putting down the membrane (having a little snooze in the bed!); putting down some soil but removing the grass first (easier said than done) and finishing off with compost. Well I'd say we achieved a SAT score of above baseline on this one! We did manage to put down the membrane but ran out of staples in the gun; we did manage to empty the soil bags but there were a fair few chunks of grass in them which couldn't be used; so that resulted in the top compost having to be delayed - Sorry Miss..we did try!
Newly grown..
Nahush was on his first task with us and he did an amazing job - getting absolutely stuck into the task
Hair today...gone tomorrow
Not many GG'ers go get their hair and nails done before a GG task - but Nisha did...lucky we had a spare pair of gardening gloves to protect those perfect nails!
Channeling her inner thoughts
Sutyee did a great job of creating a channel for bulbs to be planted. She did it so quickly it was almost like she had a team of little people helping!
Gnome-body knows gardening like...
Jean and Pam - always grateful for their gardening insights and advice
Well done to everyone tonight for their hard efforts
We look forward to having a team social to celebrate a little birthday on Saturday!

As easy as 123
Tonight's task was as an easy one to arrange. It's the school my children go to and I had noticed on a few occassions that the reception play area was looking a little leafy with the Autumn leaves still floating around...we didn't want the children to fall behind, so a task with GoodGym was agreed with our Deputy Head at the school gate!
I wish all tasks were this easy to arrange. The reception area already had brooms and dust pans and brushes out as play tools for the children, so the tools were sorted. The lighting was on par and access was a breeze! No chance of getting this task marked incorrect!
WWW (welcome, warm up and what you did)
It was great to see Nimi back on her second task with us, having only just joined us last week (and in her tee!...super quick delivery on that!), but as well as Nimi, we also had Lauren join us on her first Slough task but not first GoodGym task as she was a regular in Newcastle until she moved down soughf...
During our warm up, I asked the team what the highlight of their day was and we had lovely replies such as
Attending this session tonight;
Talking to locals ;
Getting their work load sorted ;
Going on a lovely long walk;
To listening to 'my dad wrote a porno' podcast.....
Lovely to start the session with a little insight into each persons day..
Hi school? Nope, we are at the primary
Harsha was the leader of the pack tonight taking Nimi, Lauren and Jen with her whilst I lead the backpack..
It didn't take us long to get there so we'd already decided to run a few laps of the Langley Memorial Park on our way back after the task to get more miles in.
On arrival, we quickly got to work:-
All in all we did a pretty good job and made the area look like you could eat your dinner off it! We even had time for a few games...well done to Nimi and Lauren on a draw at Connect 4! and Jean for winning the knee tag game!
Next week is our loved up Valentines special...who needs a candlelit evening anyway!

This was our first task at The Langley Academy Primary and our mission was to help revive the outdoor forestry learning garden!
With child height weeds we did have our hands full, but we are naturals at digging up weeds so this was child’s play for us!
No punning in the hall
With a few of us running to the task, we were already warmed up and ready to do our good weed of the day.
The cutest little shovels and forks as our tools, we sectioned off the area so we could safely tackle the bushes!
Never a dill moment
On the left side we had:-
They did a cracking job of unearthing the … earth really ! Ruth was on a mission and knew just the thicket to get the job done!
In the middle were:-
Their section was quite hard with lots of brambles but they got a twiggle on and pulled out some thorny stalks!
On the right we had:-
Our expert gardeners who kept their heads down and did a blooming great job!
We worked hard tonight! I think someone saved the sweet pea bush as requested by school! 10 out of 10 for you!
An hour in and we were all done just in time for bud time. Plenty left for a follow up visit and a quick school photo of the good kids and the naughty ones!
Great task and superb efforts by everyone.
Throw her to the wolves and she will return leading the pack
But that’s not where we end the report! Tonight was Supergirl Harsha’s 100th good deed!
Here are some things about her that you may or may not know!
She’s never hits the wall - she just climbs over it.
She likes to get dirty.
We don’t like you either - said the burpee to everyone except Harsha.
Her scars are a sign of her survival.
She is courageous.
She’s on fire! (In some photos she really is!).
She’s strong!
She smashes all her goals.
She’s in a Wolfpack!
She’s just an awesome person all round!
Well done Harsha! Awesome milestone to reach (and before Rickyyyyy) 😂
We have plenty of other tasks booked on the system - hope to see you there!
