Adam went off on a litter pick whilst Jen, Caroline, Mick and Louis grabbed a rake or pitchfork and joined the BBOWT and Friends of The Millie volunteers to rake up the reeds and nettles that had been cut down by a team who had attended earlier in the week.

Jen and Didem were weeding wizards clearing up two area of invasive heliotrope in the rockery.

Weeding in the sunshine, by the tinkling of the water fountain and having a good chin wag was the perfect therapy for a Friday morning.

The task was listed as laying woodchip, however Mrs M had mislaid her hand tools and instead wanted me to strim and mow her lawn. I did I much as I could before the batteries needed recharging.

Mrs M had one last job before I left - to tidy up her lavender in the front garden.

Jen, Louis and Roberta met with Shoshan our task leader for a briefing. We were joined by her two beautiful dogs, Lily and the younger, more boisterous Simba.

Our task today was a quick tour of the two new developing Fernery areas before bundling up previously collected twigs, sticks and branches into broomstick type arrangements.

We were soon joined by Sheila which meant that we could demonstrate that many hands do make light work.

A last job before we finished was watering the planters and bedding plants, so with the hosepipe ban still in place it was buckets to the rescue.

We had an impressive pile of broomsticks by the end.

Another year of GoodGym helping at the Macmillan Coffee Morning - a community fundraising day organised by the Maidenhead United Football Club which features varying events over the morning and a litter pick led by GoodGym.

Seven GoodGymers were joined by 2 ladies attending the fundraiser in the litter pick. We spread out around Braywick Park and 50 minutes later, returned with bags and bags of litter. Everyone then treated themselves to well-deserved cake and hot beverages. A lovely morning spent in the sunshine for a good cause.
