Help, I need somebody
The call came out from Junior parkrun that they were really short of volunteers. Not wanting to see an unnecessary cancellation on the 20th anniversary weekend, John and Belinda agreed to Beatle along to help. (See what I did there? Too subtle? Look out, there’s more to come!)
Keeping them on track
John was positioned at both the exit to the field, and the entrance to the track. Hopefully the runners would know whether they were coming or going. John couldn’t be certain because they were here, there and everywhere.
How many Meggies?
The trouble with Junior parkrun is the high expectations. Fitness and education! The apostrophe police were out today. It’s not a school day. Just let it be!
All together now
Gathered together for the warmup, the runners windmilled, jogged and kicked themselves before being given their ticket to ride. To be fair, most ran, some definitely wished they could ride though.
Hello Goodbye
With a little help from their friends who responded to the emergency call a successful event took place. 120 youngsters completed the long and winding course, wishing Lady Madonna had been available, but had to settle for Mrs Robinson giving them their token.
Did you spot all nine (eleven!) Beatle references in the report (and the rather invasive Simon and Garfunkel one), or are you the Walrus that sank the Yellow Submarine.

Not content with volunteering at the Worthing 5k parkrun yesterday, John & Belinda were out again today volunteering for the Worthing Leisure Centre junior parkrun. The pre-event warm up was captured by some fabulous drone footage!
It was a marathon effort
54 runners aged 4-14 came along on this frosty, sunny Sunday & there were celebrations at the start with one young runner receiving their half marathon wristband & another their marathon wristband. That means they’d done 11 & 21 junior 2k parkruns respectively!
J’unior know how well those kids run?
John & Belinda were marshals on the course keeping the runners safe, cheering them on & providing those all important power high fives! There were some great efforts today with the first finisher coming in at 8.07mins, 11 PBs & 6 first timers!

Got a last minute request for help with Worthing Leisure Centre junior parkrun. Duncan and Lucy turned up and were allocated the very important role of making sure every runner got a finish token. Some great sprint finishes, and happy faces

The 1st of many !
What a day for Worthing! A much anticipated event which was supposed to be a soft launch .
Despite this the mini runner turn out was amazing and makes the youth community running and wellbeing opportunities look incredibly optimistic for our small but mighty town.
Supporting this event today was 7 of my core GoodGym team. I would like to say that this is because of our Red January challenge but in reality I really do believe it was more because they believe in this new local inspirational initiative.
Thank you Belinda, Barbara,Gill, Lucy, John and Duncan for being art of this epic day
