GoodGym Lambeth Run Report 🏃‍♀️💨 Four the Love of the Planet! 🌍

Well, well, well… what do we have here? Not ONE, not TWO, not THREE, but FOUR shiny new faces joining the GoodGym Lambeth crew this week! 🎉

That’s right — we didn’t just pick up litter, we picked up people too. Welcome to the fold, Treena, Paul, Dann & Kirsty, who clearly decided that finishing a long shift at work just wasn’t quite enough suffering for one day. Respect. 💪🏼🍾

The Task: Not a Twozy. Not Even a Threezy… Wait, Actually Yes a Threezy. 🗑️ This week’s mission was an absolute trash of a good time (in the best possible way).

We went full triple-threat with: 🗺️ GoodGym classic litter picking 🌊 Planet Patrol 🧴 The Big Plastic Count The goal? Grab as much recycling and plastic as humanly possible and give our community a well-deserved glow-up. And boy, did we deliver.

Several black bags filled to the brim and safely recycled — that’s not just good deeds, that’s re-MARK-able work. You could say we really bagged this one. 😱🤩

The planet is cleaner, our legs are tired, and our hearts are full. See you next week — and Treena, Paul, Dann & Kirsty, you’ve got no excuses now. You already know we’re worth the post-work schlep! 😊❤️

GoodGym Lambeth | Run Report 🌿🏃💚 Leaf It To Us!

Well, well, well — our magnificent mob of do-gooding runners were out in full force this week, descending on the streets of Lambeth like a very fit, very enthusiastic swarm of locusts. (Sorry Dan, we know, we know — new start point, new us. Change is growth! 🌱)

The vibes? Immaculate. The chat? Absolutely flowing. The pace? Fast enough to feel smug, slow enough to finish a sentence. 💬✨

The Task 🍂 This week we headed over to The Lunch Club Streatham at their Woodlawns site, where nature had — shall we say — gone a bit feral. Leaves, twigs, fallen branches: the full autumnal chaos package. Our mission was to wrestle the outdoor space into shape ahead of an exciting planting project and lunch service when the warmer weather finally stops being so shy. ☀️🤞

And wrestle we did. No leaf was left unturned (literally), no branch left unstowed. By the end, we had: 🗑️ 10+ bulging bin bags filled and destined for composting 🚮 Litter picked to within an inch of its life 🪵 Branches stashed ready for a future task — because the fun never stops! The outdoor space is looking twig-mendously better. We’re not saying we’re heroes, but… the evidence speaks for itself. 🦸

The Shoutouts 🎉 🎂 Ben — massive birthday shoutout incoming! The big day is TOMORROW, which means tonight’s run was basically his pre-birthday workout. Iconic behaviour. Many happy returns, Ben!

🚴 Adam — joined us for his very first GoodGym run! Usually found terrorising the streets on two wheels, tonight he used his actual legs like the rest of us. Welcome to the fold, Adam — we’ve got a feeling the bike might get a bit jealous. 😄

💯 Michael — brace yourselves… Michael has just hit 100 months of GoodGym. ONE HUNDRED. That’s over 8 years of showing up, doing good, and being generally wonderful. We are not worthy. 🙌😱🤩

On a mild Lambeth evening, our GoodGym superstars turned up in gooseberry great numbers for a task that was truly berry satisfying. 💪🏼🍾🌿

Our mission: dig out several gooseberry bushes and relocate them (via barrows!) to the orchard garden behind the church. And honestly? It was completed in no time — proving once again that many hands make light work… and strong legs make lightly complaining work. 😅🚜

Now, we can’t confirm there was extra speed in the air… but we may have been powered by the knowledge that an end-of-month social was waiting for us. Motivation? ✅ Relocation? ✅ Social-ocation? Also ✅ 🤗

Huge thanks to Adam and Nicole, our absolute legends of the evening, who hosted us and did not disappoint: food, drink, and board games aplenty! ❤️🍕🍻🎲 (Let it be known: we came to transplant bushes, but we stayed to transplant ourselves into competitive board-game personalities.)

A wonderful time was had by all — and yes, we definitely got to know each other a LOT better too 😏😂. By the end of the night, we’d also uncovered the true solution to modern life’s troubles: a cucumber suit, tequila, salami t-shirts, and a very active ‘social life’. 🥒👔🍹🥓😄

The Mission 🎯

We were cap-tivated to be back at Max Roach Park this week, answering the call from Tom at Lambeth Council for another epic bottle top crack down! Because apparently, bottle tops are like glitter – they get EVERYWHERE and refuse to leave the party. 🍾✨

The Squad 💪

Tonight we had the fantastic four: Dan, Adam, Michael, and Ben absolutely crushing it (or should we say, trowel-ing it?). Thanks so much for turning up, guys – you really are the tops! 🤗

The Action 🧹

Tom rolled out the red carpet… well, actually he rolled out the trowels, dustpans, brushes, black bags, and high vis vests – basically the Lamborghini of cleaning equipment. We felt VERY fancy. 🥳

Our mission: tackle the areas around the bins (because apparently that’s where all the party fouls happen). We collected:

• A couple of kilos of cigarette butts (gross but someone’s gotta do it! 🚬)
• Heavy loads of bottle tops (we can't cap our enthusiasm)
• Various other debris that thought it could hide from us (spoiler: it couldn’t)

The Plot Twist 😱

In devastating news, we completely binned our sweetie treat tradition tonight. We forgot them! But fear not – this means DOUBLE treats next time! 😊🍬🍫

GoodGym Lambeth Run Report: Weeding Out the Competition! 🏃‍♀️🌿

Mission: Operation Lavender Rescue at Max Roach Park

This week, our magnificent crew of do-gooders descended upon Max Roach Park faster than weeds in a rainstorm! Michelle and the Friends of MR Park rolled out the green carpet (literally) and invited us to wage war on the burdock bandits threatening their beloved Lavender Maze. 💜

The A-Team Assembled:

• Andy (finally correctly identified! 🎉) and his pawsome puppy sidekick
• Adam, Michael, Fi, and Ben

Our old pal Father Nature was on hand to brief the troops, and boy, did we get down and dirty! Armed with determination and questionable gardening skills, we pulled, stuffed, and mulched like our lives depended on it. Those weeds didn’t stand a chance – we really rooted them out! 🌱

The burdock invasion was no match for our elite squad. We showed those prickly customers the door (or should we say, the compost heap?). The lavender can finally breathe easy and smell sweet again!

Post-Mission Debrief: Ben came through with the ultimate reward – homemade brownies to complete the bake-off sweepstake! Because nothing says “we crushed it” like crushing some chocolate treats. 🍫

Great work, team! You’re all mint to be doing this! 🌿
