On the last ever day of summer / liberty we assembled outside Abbeyfield in Westbourne to do some epic flyering for the charity promoting a safe haven from isolation and loneliness for the elderly - pertinent!!

We split into two groups of four taking on right hand side / left hand side of road duties and loaded up with 1,000 flyers.

Chris, Claire & Adam from goodgym Nantwich set up an elaborate relay system to ensure that Hannah and bump could focus on posting flyers rather than running unnecessarily. Sweet!

Claire was spontaneously approached by a local couple who were super keen to hear about Abbeyfield - you can't buy sales skills like that, Forbes!

Grace, Roshana, Ashok and I talked about people we know "moving to Bournemouth" - it's the place to be!

After an hour of solid letterbox action in fading light, we agreed to meet up next week and do it all again to finish off. Not least to keep doing stuff that makes us feel good. We still have that liberty!

So back to Bishop's Aldhelm's School to finish the job from last week. We spilt into teams from the get go, Lea, Sam, Mark and Andrew got stuck in to digging and removing soil ready for the liner to be placed, Keith and Laura were on rock and root removal, Daryl and Ashok got sweaty shifting soil ready for the wood borders to be placed. Roshana, Sarah, Hannah and Grace were in charge of leveling the soil and laying the weed liner. Paul as always was delighted with our work and what a transformation!! GO TEAM GG Bournemouth! (virtual high fives all round!)

Apologies for the delay in getting this report out there....but for whatever reason it wouldn't let me upload our amazing photos! Fixed it though!

We love helping out Paul and it was no different this time around. Paul had lots of tools ready for us and we got straight into it by clearing the area of playground equipment....some a little phallic...

The mission was to dig a layer of dirt out to then allow some antiweed carpet to be put down which would then be followed by a layer of wood chip.

There was a lot of shoveling but a lot of digging too to loosen up the very firm ground...there was a lot of chatting going on....especially on the section where Ashok, the lovely, new to GG Bournemouth, Maria and myself....but we did manage to keep working as the photos show!

Caprice, Leah, Nicola and Hannah were a little more balanced in their work to chat ratio and that was perfectly ok too!

In the end we ran out of time and to make up for it we have booked ourselves in with Paul again for next week Wednesday. Lots of tools available and it's outdoors and volunteer work so will be ok under the new government guidelines so come along!!

Nine runners meet at Surely Chine to do a litter pick. It was nice to have good weather after the gale's from the day before. We split into pairs and we soon had bin bags full of litter. Keith found a statue what it was doing there who knows Bea found a child's play set to use in the sand. By the time we had finished we had filled seven bin bags full of litter a good job done by all. The lovely people at the Cherry Tree Nursery needed us to help spread the word about a fundraising event they are having in September.

We were due to do a flyer drop for them the week the pandemic hit back in March, so it felt great to be able to get this done under much more positive circumstances!

We welcomed Nathalie to her first GoodGym Bournemouth experience and it’s like she always been one of us!!

We set off on a semi plod to the start of where we were going to start our synchronised frog hopping...split up into two groups, one on one side of the road and the other on the other side and off we went!

Hannah was showing a bit more of her baby bump which was lovely to see!

Grace was back and we’re going to our best to attach ourselves to her leg so it’ll be really hard for her to leave us again....we’ll have to set up a rota for this.

Caprice took it on to be the photographer and did a great job and in about 25mins we had managed to deliver all the flyers!!

So not being content with doing one good thing we did a litter pick of Kings Park.

Dirty undies and human faeces looked to be top of the gross list and on top of the whaaaaaaaaat? list was a massive knife....I hope it was used to cut mint for mojitos?
