It's that time again! Our favourite task of the month, GoodGym's Quiz at Abbeyfield Retirement Home!
Tonight was a good turn out. We had James, Chloe, Eleanor and Luke on the ladies team "Loose Women" and Janet, Daryl,Ross and Paul joining team "The Seagulls."
Caprice this week was quiz master giving a tricky quiz of four rounds. The four rounds included; Geography, History&Politics, The Arts and good old General Knowledge. The Arts Round again proved to be the most challenging with some really tricky questions, it really got them thinking! This week's winners smashed it with a respectable 28/40 "The Seagulls" Well done to them, what a cracking score!! "The Loose Women" scored a well earned 21/40.
It was tough tonight, the quiz had some tricky questions We will return next month this time with a music and a picture round! We hope to see you there!

Six Goodgymmers, Chloe, James, Caprice, Eleanor, Keith and Lea, turned up at Hope Housing…. Would there be something for us to do THIS time?!?!?! Nobody in sight, so we feared the worst, but fear not: Glynn appeared round a corner and took us to a room full of clothes. Our task: sort the clothes, photograph the various items and put them on Vinted. Luckily we had some tech experts, some Vinted experts as well as some modelling experts (ahem!). Each item was expertly viewed and commented on(!) and some even tried on! Chloe was keen to try on a lovely shirt with long sleeves, but with it being too long for her arms, Vinted expert Eleanor had a go and decided to buy it. Caprice had her eyes on a lovely bralette (I think that what it’s called, a niksniemendalletje as I would say in Dutch 🤔🙃🤣), a Chelsea Football training top and a whatever-you-call-it dress. A Fat Face dress attracted Lea’s attention but her son got married three years ago, so she no longer needs a mother-of-the-groom dress. The lovely shiny black velvety pants, attractive though they were, were unfortunately a tad too big for Lea. And Keith decided to go for a manatee tshirt in favour of a floral dress with ruffles….as he did swim with manatees in 2004 and not with a dress! Many, many items and a big pile of clothes later, we left Hope Housing in high spirits, definitely a fun task to get involved with! BTW James, good luck with your 10k run on Sunday!

Nine Goodgymmers, Chloe, James, Luke, Millie, Sophie, Eleanor, Daryl, Keith and Lea, were ready and raring to go walk leading the Walk for Wards at 9 o’clock this morning…. Eh, well, the organisers had failed to mention that the actual walks didn’t start till 11 o’clock! Goodgymmers being Goodgymmers filled the time with reading about the queen, about rocks and minerals, and happily chatting away, admiring the bubble machine and getting some faces painted. The Star studded lawn, with Captain America, Mary Poppins, the Incredible Hulk, Resident Evil (eh who?!?!), Snowwhite, Sulley, Ghostbusters …. added a bit more entertainment, although Millie, Sophie, Luke and Eleanor were nearly drawn to “The Dark Side”! Nope, didn’t happen: ready for the off first were Sophie, Millie, Eleanor and Luke, leading the 10k walk. Closely followed by Daryl and Lea walk leading the 5k with Keith as a backmarker. Last but not least Chloe and James set off to lead the 3k walk. My oh my, was it sloooow going! What didn’t help was a lady thinking she was walking the 3k , but she was in the 10k group. Luckily we managed to point her to the right group. And there were many people of such varying abilities. Kudos to the old guy in the 5k pushing a lady in a wheelchair all the way round! Seeing why and who people were walking for was really impressive. The 10k walk all the way to the Asda roundabout and back got a little “long in the tooth” and James not getting through to the organisers emergency numbers were a tad tedious (read: annoying/frightening)! But with the weather Gods providing us with bluer than blue skies, we were all happy to have completed another Goodgym task! Thanks everyone!
