... helped by one of the watering cans being leaky!! The team coined a phrase ''don't be a drip, get a grip!'' and managed to ferry watering cans in a wheelbarrow so many times that all 5 of the water butts on the allotment were completely full, and still manage to water a lot of the flowers and vegetables as well! The team work and banter was excellent - so there was even time to smell the buddleia - which we decided was our favourite as well the butterlies' favourite! In parallel we managed to completely clear brambles, nettles and grasses to enable access for a lady who has just had hip surgery to get to her raspberry canes and rosemary bush.

6 people picked a lotta litter around St Mary's!
And we emptied the 2 public bins into the dustbins that the council empty - as we noticed that they were completely full and people were stacking up litter around them. By lining them with heavy duty bags, we are hoping that they can get emptied much more easily going forward.
We were joined by local resident Martin (with his lovely lurcher Gladys) who litter picked a whole bag on his own. He wanted to know where the 'gym' in GoodGym is and was really supportive of the GoodGym philosophy when we shared it with him. It also went out on the Slough Anti-Litter WhatsApp group this morning - and now that we have learned about this, we have the opportunity to get the message out to them earlier and to work together more in the future.
The team talk was fun and fascinating (both whilst tidying up and also over water and biscuits in the church) - we learned that the library at The Curve has a theatre and film viewing area called 'The Venue' and has a massive diversity of events and shows to celebrate all of the cultural heritage of the people of Slough. And they are always looking for volunteers to support as ushers etc (no need for first aid training etc, as there is a front-of-house manager who coordinates all of the volunteer efforts).
And perhaps most rewarding of all - we were thanked by 3 different people who were hanging around ready to bed down for the night in the churchyard - which felt like a meaningful connection.
