Daniel Rayson earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Daniel completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Daniel was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

What an adventure we had? A record breaking seven GG cyclists descended on Darnall to greet a couple of early bird walking GGers who had come from Castle Park Run volunteering. Linda also did her usual epic early morning cycle adventure to time keep at Park Run and then join us on her bike.
We met the Sheffield City Council Community Woodland Team and local people including those from the TARA (tenants' and residents' association). Great turn out despite the drizzle and the even worse forecast.
The cycle route took in some of GG's favourite Sustrans routes that we regularly work on with the trusty Trans Pennine Trail being used as a route. Lots of glass unfortunately.
We planted a range of fruit trees including apples, cherries, damsons and plums to create a community orchard. This involved digging large holes, staking trees carefully and mulching them. We also cleared ash trees that had grown into the fence and clearing unwieldy brambles.
A lunch including large huge trays of sandwiches provided by the local TARA appeared from nowhere which helped keep our energy up.
An unlucky cyclist then discovered a puncture and a team effort meant we could fix it with just enough kit between us. Phew!
After saying our goodbyes 6 of us went to Food Works for a surplus food shop in Handsworth and then cycled home via South Street Kitchen near Park Hill for a full East Side experience of tea and cake.
Thanks everyone for coming! Great turnout on quite a wet and windy day.
*insert puns as you wish from James and Rachel... Tree's a crowd, Diggers can't be choosers, Turf's up Very good :)

This week we were back off to our old friends REGATHER to help GORGEOUS GARETH with their community apple project which harvests apples from peoples gardens that would otherwise go to waste and goes to REGATHER where they are used to make delicious cider and apple juice. The profits go back into the project or similar projects that help to reduce food waste and make food production more locally sourced and sustainable.
We split into three teams, two teams we labeling inside, some apple juice, some cider. Team three did a litter pick outside the building to keep it looking spic and span.
Once we had completed the labeling we headed around the corner for some circular fitness action which this week included:
On route back we added some extra loops and stairs to keep everyone together before coming to a close with stretched and upcoming news.
A HUGE congrats to Rachel for her 100th run and big thanks to Dianna for making the fantastic cape!
Until next time, happy running :)
