Tonight, we welcomed two new GoodGymers, Alexi and Christina, who joined us for a slightly longer run than normal, almost 6.7km altogehter. The run was glorious, even if it was raining!
We headed west to meet the Super Simon of SUSTRANS who was ready with litter pickers and shearing gear to tidy up the newest permanent section of closed road to link up the cycle routes. The majority of the team brought in the 5 bags of litter with Katie snagging and umbrella, and Celine grabbed some shears and a spade to tidy up some of the over-hanging and out-stretching foliage.
Overall, a great session all round!

Isn't getting dark!
The nights are drawing in but the litter could still be seen on the streets of Pitsmoor. Enter goodgym!
We met with the fantastic Karen from the Pitsmoor Pickers to give the area a blast. Karen met us outside My Dentist on Spital Hill and got tooled up with pickers and bags and got straight to it.
There was much on offer for the picking, so the bags filled up fast.
At the end of the session we had piles of rubbish and finished with a great group photo. We also had plenty of thanks from passing local which was great!

The great work of other super Sheffield litter pickers and Sustrans volunteers meant the planned task location was just too clean to warrant our attention. Have no fear Sustrans Simon had the trusty Durham Ox in his back pocket that needed a good spruce up.
After meeting at the Showroom for a quick pre run brief and count off, Parkrunner Rachel led an awesome warm up that got us ready for the run to the Ox.
Whilst there we helped out picking up 6 bags of litter, cutting back overgrowing foliage and sweeping and scraping the cycle route.
We extended the run route back by heading past the famous Park Hill flats and a sprint up the Steel City Steps behind the station, before heading back to the Showroom for a stretch off.
Great work everyone!

We were rocking and rolling tonight on the way to meet the greatest rock star of all Parky Rob at Heeley People's Park for tonights task.
Def Leopard were in town and playing at Sheffield United's Bramall Lane stadium. Our Motley Crew ran past the aging rocker fans and the vibrating stadium to meet up with our other fellow GG'ers for the evenings task which was shifting wood chip up to the playground and turning the old wood chip and mixing in the new.
We split into 2 teams, one fetching and carrying and the other turning over and spreading.
With 4, yes 4 new runners this week it was great to get to know some new faces. Lets welcome:
There were some lovely scents coming from the steaming pile of wood chip (genuinely) which made the filling of the GG red buckets even more satisfying.
Once we were done, the playgrounds were looking tip top with the surfacing looking freshly turned and refreshed and Parky Rob was looking very chipper with our efforts.
Once tools had been collected Rob told us all about the upcoming summer events and how our work was contributing to them being able to happen in the park and in turn support the ongoing upkeep and development of the spaces.
Until next time, happy running :)
