I could make a parallel between the England score and the satisfaction of the task this evening but it's too obvious so I won't go there. It was just a very clean sweep sort of a day!
We had a quick catch up on an epic weekend- Paul's amazing ten mile PB, Charlotte's three good deeds in three days and amazing Aimee completing ALL of the north east parkruns.
That's commitment!
We had a run, walk and a meet at task element tonight then the super six assembled at Recyke Y Bike for the first time in a few months. We have done so many tasks at this amazing bike charity that we couldn't remember them all, but it was fun trying! Brilliant task owner Vanessa set us up for the night with cups of tea and home made biscuits and mince pies then we got cracking. It was a simple and satisfying one tonight, working in pairs to sweep the enormous floor space. Louise and Aimee got really stuck in and seemed to get the perfect technique!
Job done and the floors looked gleaming so we headed out to the front of the building for shuttle runs and ladder drills. Louise was particularly heroic in this fitness session and we gave her an extra clap.
A community mission replaces next week's Group Run, but that still meets at Stepney Bank Stables at 6:15 so we hope you can make it.

A new era begins at GoodGym Newcastle
With huge thanks to Stepney Bank Stables, we now have a new base and a regular starting point to our Monday night group sessions. New and OG GoodGymers met on a chilly but still night in toon and there was a real buzz about our new meeting space which allows us to get back to how it was pre-pandemic times with somewhere to meet, change, catch up and get ready to do good things. From tonight, group sessions will always meet at 6, every Monday but our community missions will continue to pop up on weeknights and weekends so keep an eye on the listings for info.
After a great catch up and warm up we split into two groups: Paul's group of runners going to litter pick on the Quayside and my walking group focusing on Ouseburn. We had a great half hour of collecting six big bags of rubbish between them and it was soon time to meet back up for the fitness session.
Tonight was a Stepney Circuit, making use of the street furniture and the hills for an epic ten minute workout. On to The Ship Inn for a well earned drink where we discussed ideas for upcoming socials - stay tuned for plans including axe throwing, rage rooms, surfing and having our heads measured.
It's a GoodGym thing, and it's nice to get back to making Mondays amazing.

After a great task at Suitability last month, Goodgym returned in the hope of following suit!
Chris, Katie, Sam and Tom organised the great range of stock that Darren has acculumated and we had a go at finding an appropriate outfit for a future client. Eleanor dressed the mannequin and made him nice and dapper for a photo shoot, whilst Anji, Emma and Kate organised the self-care products. We made shirt work of it in the hour!
We heard some wonderful stories about how the different shirts, suits, trousers, ties and shoes came to have joined the charity's collection! Thanks Darren for having us - we hope we tie'd you over until we next return!

There was free rein on this week's training session- the only thing that mattered was including the number 2 as we celebrated 2 years of GoodGym Newcastle on Thursday.
I knew this creative lot would come up with the goods!
Emily did TWO Newcastle parkrun courses, finishing them both with a sprint finish!
Louise and Dan ran in a TWO, covering 22.22K in 2:22:22
Emma and Kate ran in a TWO, running 22 minutes of 2 minute intervals
Charlotte did 3 sets of TWO minutes of skipping and 20 squats
I watched TWO episodes of Afterlife 2 on Netflix while riding TWO hour sessions on my turbo trainer
Feel free to keep it coming, send me your runs, fitness sessions and Netflix suggestions over the weekend.

Hey hey how is it Monday? (again)
The great news is that we weren't facing a stormy evening for our Group Run for the first time in ages. Whisper it.. could this be the beginning of Spring?
It was a rescheduled group run tonight as we headed off on another leaflet drop for our friends at Guide Dogs NE. GoodGymer Louise had hooked this one up for us, and it was great to have her along to explain what the task was all about, making it feel even more worthwhile and close to home. The leaflets will help Guide Dogs NE to reach some new sighted volunteers to work with those with sight loss to work with guide dogs. We had 300 leaflets to spread the word.
We had a great weekend round up including a double day on Saturday in which we had a takeover at Leazes parkrun and a tidy up at our monthly visit to Nunsmoor Park. Well done to everyone who took part! We have more coming up this weekend so keep an eye on the Community Mission listings for loads of chances to do good things, including this Saturday where you can walk and run to deliver leaflets with time for a parkrun beforehand too! I left Katy in charge to take one of her famous warm ups, which was all about influential brilliant women while I had the chance of taking part in the walking group for the first time in ages!
The Jesmond area seems to be our favourite chosen patch and once again we split into small teams to get leaflets dropped off in super-quick time. New runner Crispin got stuck in and even offered to do one of the longer distance runs. We like that Crispin, you can come back! Louise also managed to find her house from 1989, but we can't quite believe she was old enough to own a house in 1989 so we aren't sure on that part.
Fitness tonight was a super circuit of tricep dips (everyone's favourite, right?) expertly demonstrated and supervised with minimal shouting from Rachel; lunges and star jumps, out-and-back jogging and a lung busting hill sprint. 9/10 for all with a point lost for some dip-related whinging and repeated "Is that two minutes yet?" calls.
We are back to Newcastle Eagles next week for some brilliant gardening and some great bants as always. Hope to see you there.
Have a great week everyone!
Anji x
