0 Month Streak

30 runners hit the streets of London from New Balance's flagship store to run 5km and help clear some workshops for young people in central London.
In the bright lights of our new location a crowd of runners emerged from the throngs of Oxford street shoppers.
We had a massive crew of first timers and a good gang of Westminster regulars.
"amazing opportunity for young people"
Our task for tonight was to help Makerversity clear out their cupboard to make way for more making space for young creative businesses. The dark vaults of Somerset House now vacted by HMRC are home to a thriving community of designers and makers. Every 3 months they support two new young creative people to get their first studio and workshop space free of charge - it's an amazing opportunity for young people to get started in Central London.
"7pm cutoff"
Our gang split in two: one lead by Barnet run leader Damien - taking a longer, posher, faster route down Bond Street and passed he Ritz, while Ivo's group went as the crow flies - through London's busiest streets including the very monica for busy-ness - Piccadilly Circus.
We battled through the crowds (and waited fro many a green man) and made it to the location just before our security-enforced 7pm cutoff. Both groups arriving within minutes of 7pm.
We got to work quickly - one trip for each person was enough to fill a skip with the designated unneeded materials. In no more than 6.5 minutes the job was done.
"planks, squats and dead bugs"
A quick task meant more time for exercising under-exercised muscles. The steps from the Mall to Pall Mall were the back drop for planks, squats and dead bugs. Everyone completed 2 sprints and all three exercises.
The groups made it back at 7.45pm. A rapid, efficient and speedy start to our runs from our new home on Oxford street.
See you next time.
Massive thanks to Damian, Nina, Gillian and Millie for their help guiding us around town tonight and wishing a speedy recovery to Joel - our new trainer for Westminster.
Until next week, safe running.

Emma Shaw has done their first good deed with GoodGym.
Emma is a now a fully fledged GoodGym runner. They've just run to do good for the first time. They are out there making amazing things happen and getting fit at the same time.
Sunday 1st May 2016
Emma Shaw completed their first weekend mission.
Emma has forgone the usual weekend routine. Instead of lie-ins, roasts and strolls around the park Emma has dropped everything to run a GoodGym mission for someone who needed help. Respect
Sunday 1st May 2016
Emma Shaw run their first missions with GoodGym.

As April drew to a close two North London GoodGym vets crossed the river to join forces with Bex and new GoodGymmers to help Library of Things move from Big Yellow self storage to their new home
Library of things (LoT) is a wonderful initiative which allows people to borrow useful household items they might want in the short-term without needing to own it outright; so think ladders, airbeds and breadmakers.
It was a milestone achievement for LoT as they had found a new home and so today we gathered at Big Yellow Self Storage in West Norwood to clear the storage locker, load a van (twice) and unload again in the new home just under a mile away.
We took a while to find our storage room (bizarrely Area V was tucked behind S rather than T and U!) but before long I (Patrick) turned on my retro tunes then began emptying out the box, passing all the contents to the rest of the team to load trolleys and then the van (driven by master carpenter Ben).
The Generation Game
The initial stock is eclectic and very much felt like a nod to the conveyor belt from The Generation Game. We saw:
Ladders
Roof racks
Printers
Food processors
Tents
Folding chairs
But no cuddly toys!
That kept me busy: Bex and Bryon went down to meet Ben and deal with van-load one. That left me, Yaga, Emma, Sophia and Jonny to deal with van-load two.
Run to the beef!
Yaga and I jogged and took the scenic route because, by the time we arrived at the new home, all the stock was unloaded and so was a picnic! YUM!
The nice lot from LoT had put on a spread including beef biltong, croissants, coffee fruit and crisps. All served with much love and in the lovely sunshine.
