A little drizzle wasn’t going to stop a fab 32 runners hitting the pavements for some furniture and moss removal.
We started off welcoming new runners Jessica and Hannah as well as Effie who has just moved back to London from former Lambeth twin area Liverpool. It just so happened that it was her 50TH GOOD DEED, and she happily adorned herself with the cape of good hope.
Nice one Effie!
We then set sail with Samantha and George leading a longer route and the rest of us taking the direct route to Brixton Road Youth Centre.
When we arrived, we quickly moved some tables and filing cabinets into the blue lockup or the other one.
Then we began the satisfying task of scraping up moss, pulling up weeds and piling up the bags. Unbelievably there were still some leaves left to bag, having already cleared loads on previous visits. I'm sure we'll be back soon enough to do even more...
Once there was a big pile of bags, we stowed the tools and hit the road, mixing up the pace with some Fartlek.
Next week we're back at the Portico Gallery to sort out the Feast tables and it's pub week aaaand St Patrick's Day! Sign up here ☘️🍻

As the theme tune goes: "Everybody needs good neighbours". Ms C had suffered a bad fall in her flat, but thanks to her excellent friend and neighbour Ms A, the phone had been moved within reach, so she was able to call for help. After a stay in hospital, she is now very keen to return to home comforts, so Ms A rushed back from work in the pouring rain to let Freddie and me in to do some furniture shifting. We moved various items from the bedroom and reconfigured the room so an armchair and some kit could be brought in from elsewhere. Ms A also checked the fridge and we did some hoovering while we were about it. We left after 45 minutes, satisfied that the flat was set up ready for Ms C to safely return. "Neighbours, should be there for one another. That's when good neighbours become good friends."

Twas a bit of a chilly one as our brave runners set out to complete 2 tasks.
First up, we had a small group, lead by Victoria, heading down the road to empty, move and refill a planter. GP Food Co op turn local surgery’s gardens into little allotment spaces where patients can grow and eat fruit and veg!
Words by Victoria:
Jonathan has been at the surgery for 20 years, and since the setup of the GP food Co-op, he’s pleased to see it’s having the desired effect. Fewer patients needing quite so many appointments, perhaps because of the healing power of nature and the great outdoors! The garden was in great shape and many residents and local green-fingered garden users walked by to say hello! We moved a planter to a sunnier spot in the garden ready for summer. It took some coordinated 1,2,3 lift (shuffle). We have it a spruce up with a litter pick too. Then were back to base to warm up.💥
The rest of us split into 3 groups, spreading some leaflets about an event happening for Lambeth residents looking to gain EU settlement status. 👌
Lambeth-regular Paul said we saved him a day’s work at the council offices by delivering them to community centres, GP surgeries and leisure centres between Brixton and Streatham. With runs from 6k to 12k, we blitzed the running, and figured out where some of the mysterious venues were from a slightly cryptic map!
Nice one everyone and MASSIVE congrats to Pippa for her SPOTM 💩! 80 deeds, a 25 month mission streak 🔥 and a new 10k PB as of this weekend 🏁 A well deserved winner of various cosmetics samples, a chocolate brussel sprout, a piggy bank and a limited edition Star Wars pin badge! 🚀
And big up new runners Diane, Victor and Jessie for joining us!
See y'all next week for a little trip to Jubilee Primary School! Sign up here.

🎵 Mid February in Twenty-twenty... 🎵
The GoodGym gods were smiling down on us last night as the rains subsided and let us do our task in relative dryness!
This week we were off to the Yellow Qube, a new community centre in Tulse Hill, to finish off some litter picking and ivy removal that we started a few weeks ago.
First up we welcomed lovely new runners Selina, Hanna, Christina, Robyn and Jie to the fold and adorned Alfie with the CAPE OF GOOD HOPE for smashing his 50th good deed! 😲
We had a quick warm up and split into two distance teams. Nicky lead a longer route via Herne Hill and the rest of us only got a little lost on a shorter but hilly run.
When we arrived we had to vault a slippery fence to get into the area to be tidied which everyone (generally) did with grace and elegance. We shared around the gloves and bags and got to work, yanking up the ivy and picking up the rubbish. In no time at all we'd filled up every single bag (probs like 30..!), jumped back over the fence, took a snap and headed back.
A bunch of us then headed off for a quick sip at the Grosvenor!

Next week we've got TWO tasks - either a nice 5k up to the Portico Gallery or a shorter 2k to help the GP Food Co op in Stockwell! Click here to get signed up!
