On our many meanders around Oxford we noticed that the area around Florence Park was getting really rather grotty. Lots of litter, fly tipping and general detritus needed clearing up.
Enter stage left, GOODGYM
We divided and conquered the roads and footpaths around the park, finding the usual mix of snack wrappers, takeaway containers, drinks cans, masks and, of course, some pants!
Congratulations and big gold stars to Katie on 100 good deeds!!
Welcome to Zoe! Thank you for joining us and we hope to see you again soon at another session.
A fond farewell and good luck to Holly who is DESERTING us to move to London. Be sure to come back and visit us sooooooon!!

A few of us picked up where we left off on Wednesday evening by delivering flyers to a few more streets for The Porch Day Centre’s Winter Fundraiser.
The Porch Day Centre have been providing day-long support for homeless and vulnerably housed people wanting to move forward in their lives for over 35 years. They focus on housing, health, wellbeing, education and employment; providing healthy food, showers, laundry, learning skills, work related skills and opportunities for development. Each Christmas The Porch provide Christmas lunch and presents, and a warm, safe venue for the day. This year they are also providing blankets, hot water bottles, thermos flasks and torches.
Demand for the centre's services keeps growing, and they are now providing breakfasts and extending their opening hours. With the rising cost of gas and electricity their costs were rising even before they extended their hours, so this year's Christmas fundraising campaign is more important than ever.

Graham McFadden earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Graham completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Graham was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

We were getting into the panto-spirit yesterday: Nevermind Jack and the Beanstalk, it was all about Jack Frost and the Longest Bramble Root.
Boundary Brook Nature Park looked like a winter wonderland with frost coating the long grasses and teasels and a beautiful blue sky. Fortunately the sunshine made it slightly less than baltic and it was good to get outside despite the chill. We weren't sure if the ground would be too frozen for our planned task of digging out bramble roots, but fortunately it wasn't solid as a rock.
A bit of competitive spirit got us motivated - prize for the longest bramble root! - and with visits from robins and a local cat it was a very lovely morning in the sunshine.
At the end of our digging session we wandered along the paths we've built on previous sessions in Boundary Brook Nature Park and had a look at the finished bird hide which we contributed to last winter.
