Twelve runners ran 4.1k to clear some compost from the Baddow Scouts site.
Another warm evening saw twelve of us run to the Great Baddow scouts where some compost and weeds had been dumped on their site.
There were 5 shovels so we split into teams, one with a shovel and one with a bag, the others breaking up sticks so that they could be moved too. we worked so fast and efficiently we soon ran out of bags! a short interval followed until more bags were retrieved, then we resumed with vigor and soon filled those too!
A huge amount of compost was bagged up and moved to the other side of the site, ready for collection.
After a short squash break we headed back to the wooden bridge for some three bridge relays! a great effort by all as we swept past dog walkers and pedestrians alike in some close fought encounters.
Back for a quick stretch and we went our separate ways tired and hot but with the satisfaction of a job well done.
special mention to Lewis who managed to move house and still make it to the start of the session, to Paul who attended his first run and best of luck to Apryl who runs her 79th Marathon today!

On a balmy summer night in Chelmsford, 11 runners met at the Ideas Hub to spread the word about GoodGym and get hot and sweaty in the process.
With Chelmsford Trainer, Ken, away on holiday, it was up to Redbridge Trainer, James, to conduct affairs. With introductions made and registers complete the group set off into Central Park to had out GoodGym flyers and spread the word about the regular Wednesday night run. GG Chelmsford is a new addition to the GG family and while numbers are great, even more members means bigger tasks and more fun.
With an amazing week for Team GB, the group was split into two teams and given an Olympic themed task. Not only did they have to hand out several hundred flyers but they had to have their photos taken with five people wearing a colour from the Olympic Rings - red, yellow, blue, black and green. All within 35 minutes. On your marks, get set, go!
With Mike leading one team and Gerry the other, the two groups were soon spreading the word and engaging with the local running community out for an evening run. With time up the two groups returned to the Ideas Hub almost empty handed and with Gerry’s team victorious with five photos of members of the public in Olympic colours. Well done to them.
With the task complete it was time for a short warm up and then a run back to Central Park to do some interval circuits. With runners paired up, the session involved one runner doing a 300m loop within the park while their partner did a core exercise or dynamic drill. Drills involved a tough combination of planks, mountain climbers, squats and lunges. In 25 minutes most of the team did 6 or 7 circuits and really worked up a good sweat. It might sounded easy but doing core exercises straight after a short fast run is really pretty tough - especially after the first couple of sets. Not content with all that exercise, Jerry led the group in a 22 push ups in aid of raising awareness of veteran suicide. Very impressive indeed.
With smiles on their faces and a few jelly legs, Team GG Chelmsford returned to The Ideas Hub for some light stretching. 6km was covered during evening and more lunges, press ups and squats than could be counted. A great effort given the warm temperatures. Well done everyone.
Ken returns next week and has a great task lined up over at the allotments in Broomfield. You can sign up for this fab run by clicking here

15 runners ran 5 k to do good in Springfield park baptist church and Preschool
15 runners gathered inside the ideas hub as rain threatened to put a dampener on proceedings, but as arranged by Goodgym Trainer Ken the rain stopped just in time for the warm up in the park.
We began with some running drills to work on our form then set of for a pleasant run along the riverside path to springfield park Baptist church. A great mix of regulars and new Goodgymers quickly set to work on a heavily overgrown garden and driveway. A multitude of weeds were removed, trees chopped and plants pulled, we filled bags, a composter and a wheely bin, but still had plenty of weeds left over so we made a large heap for easy removal later. so pleased to have a massive impact on the garden which could be a huge asset to the preschool. On the way back Gerry led Claire and Ivo on an extra loop round the foot bridges before we met back in the park for a relay to finish. Everyone stormed round the loop and cheered their teams on as Ken and Ken brought the teams home, there was even a Hammet race off which remained friendly!
Back to base for a stretch and a few words from Ivo completed another fun and rewarding session!
Next weeks task is to be confirmed, but sign up anyway, as it is certain to be fun!

Just a rather belated 'thank you' to GoodGym for the work you did for us at Springfield Park Baptist Church, Chelmsford on 27th. July. I think maybe there was a bit of divine assistance, as the rain held off in time for the work to be done. A great job, and many thanks again! John Lancaster.
