Nine wonderful GoodGym folk make a difference in Camden Town!!
Tucked within Camden Town's bustle is an estate with a very special communal courtyard ð and this lovely group gifted 60 minutes to make this green space much healthier and nicer!
Emilie, Jackie, John, Steve, and I started out in Somers Town and we took a social conversation-filled run up and over to Camden ð where we met Christy (on their first good deed â a huge welcome!), Imogen, Michael, and Vic who had all made their own journeys by bike and foot :)
Welcomed by Dan, Vic, and other residents, this special team split into a bundle of good-deeding efficiency:
âĪïļ We targeted the raised decking ð pulling weeds, grabbing fallen leaves, and sweeping everything into a pristine shine!
âĪïļ We scraped the weed-filled gaps between the paving slabs ð leaving the courtyard a shining advert for block paving!
âĪïļ We shaped the larger bushes ð cutting back the dead wood, gifting freedom to the buds yet to come!
And over everything else, last night felt like a community coming together ð our lovely group and four local residents ð it was a special hour :)
Here's to next time!

Imogen Chilton earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Imogen completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Imogen was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

7 GoodGymers visited Camden's secret community allotments for an impactful (nature-bound) workout!!!
GoodGym teamed up with the lovely folk at EarthFest for this special session.
Earthfest is London's ultimate festival of sustainability, and we spent yesterday making an active difference in one special spot of nature!
Steve, Abigail (on their first good deed â welcome!), and I met at a very wet Earthfest, and we quickly headed out into the rain for a gentle 2 mile run through Camden Town.
Arriving 30 minutes later at Adelaide Community Allotments in Primrose Hill, we met up with the lovely group of Imogen, Majid, Natalia, and Richard, and our brilliant host Jeff directed us to our task for the next hour.
The Adelaide Allotments have been serving the local community for 50 years, and they're a bountiful collection of budding plots, each growing fruits, vegetables, and flowers. Our mission was to empty one of Adelaide's four compost heaps, which month-by-month had been breaking down into healthy fertiliser.
Over the next 60 minutes, our active group turned a task into an efficient human chain â they paired up and rotated between shoveling, wheelbarrowing, and bagging â and all while sharing stories and connecting :)
This group of 7 made easy work of the heap, and they left over 20 bags of compost, all of which will head straight back into the allotments â sustainable recycling in action âšïļ
Thank you, everyone, and here's to next time!!

13 inspiring GoodGym folk made a wonderful difference in Kentish Town last night!
Some people can distinguish a grass from a weed and a weed from a flower. I am not one of these people.
But many of these intelligent beings... everyone apart from me... were present in our special group!
Our group in red ð Alison, Danny (on their first good deed - hello!), Helen, Imogen, Jackie, John, Majid (on their first good deed - huge welcome!), Sarah, Siobhan, Steve, and Will ð arrived in Kentish Town (not far from the Prime Minister's house!) to meet the wonderful Hilda (who was also on their first good deed!!) ð and we were there to help her cultivate a healthy hedgerow ðģð
I watched in awe as this group identified the 'keeps' from the 'get-rids' while also sharing stories and connecting. The weeds were piled â bag upon bag â and the remaining wild flowers and bushes noticeably started to breathe. And I resorted to taking photos and walking up and down in an attempt to look busy.
Across 60 bright evening minutes this group opened space in the hedgerow â and the fruits of their efforts will carry through into June and beyond â this would have taken a single soul 13 hours to match!
Thank you so much, everyone, for a well-spent evening âšïļ

Why does sweeping never end with just sweeping?
This is my experience of GoodGym...
"...yeah â that sounds about right â maybe just start with some sweeping over there..."
...and before you know it... you've built a gazebo or painted a bench!
Just sweeping was how our wonderful group â of Charlie, Danny, Emily, Gosia, Gus, Imogen, John, Michael, and Steve â started at the beautiful Cecil Sharp House on Wednesday evening.
In perfect May sun, sweeping strewn leaves is a good place to start â I even thought perhaps it really will just be sweeping â but then...
... Emily grabbed a hose and started dousing the (bountiful) flower beds around the house â I even flowers inch their heads towards the flowing water, and then...
...Charlie, Danny, Gus, Imogen, and John descended on a pile of... well, I'm not too sure what it was really â wooden crates, fallen branches, cut ivy â a pile of things that needed discarding! I turned my back and before I knew it... the van's boot was cleared, the crates had been snapped, and everything had been tidily bagged up! And then...
...seemingly everyone was busy planting seeds (all manner of wonderful flowers) in a row of planters! And not to forget...
...the sweeping that everyone started with... that was all finished too :)
And we finished off by cutting some fresh mint (all gifted to us by our brilliant host, Susannah) to take home â very wonderful!
Amazing work, everyone! Thank you for a lovely evening!
