Sheffield Report written by Sheffield runner
On a muggy evening, we started off our session with a quick warm up of lunges and squats led by Awesome Assistant Ash, while Kat briefed out the essentials and we welcomed new GoodGym runner Mohammad :)
We ran up past the Park Hill flats breaking off to have two teams: Team South Street Hill led by Kat and Team Steel City Steps led by Sarah and Steve. Special mention to Chris and Harris who smashed it up the steps in record time :) where we all regrouped before running the final leg to the task. We met Jackie from Park Community Action (PCA) at the Park Centre Library Entrance, who provided some tools to carry out our litter picking and weeding tasks of the PCA gardens and grounds and adjoining streets.
Clearing the dirt from this old bathhouse, with bags soon filled, Amazing Andrew provided extra bags for the GG team to continue our weeding and litter picking; and Sterling-work Sarah got stuck into clearing out the litter and debris from a soaked space of the grounds.
During the task Awesome Assistant Ash ran 3 short fitness sessions to provide an extra GG workout :) This involved a combination of sit ups, press ups, flutter kicks, planks and shuttle runs to work out GGrs cores, upper bodies and legs. Thanks to Cat and Darren to helping Ash find good work out spaces in the jungle grassed park.
With a nice jog down hill and some gentle stretches, we found our way to back at the Showroom for a good old drink.

The sun came out to greet the 30 strong GoodGym team as we headed up the hill to the lovely Lynwood Gardens. After a short run we were greeted by Magic Martin and the Rad Rob, who look after this green urban oasis.
We split into 3 groups; Team Rob ripped out the unruly roots around the entrance, pruned back the overhanging branches and barrowed the woodchips to top up the paths.
Team Martin, bashed back the bushes to clear the paths and knocked back the nettles in the children’s play area.
The Amazing Annie motivated the masses and led the 3rd group in a fitness session of hill sprints, grape vines, lunges, star jumps and lots more.
After rotating the groups and making sure everyone got a good workout, we said goodbye to Martin and Rob and headed back to base.
A big shoutout to the Cool Caroline on completing her 150th Good Deed.
Well done to all those with tired legs from the weekend: Kim and Suze for completing a quadrathalon ( that’s a triathlon with a kayak thrown in for good measure) and to the smallparkBIGRUN team for completing a combined 755 kilometres in 24 hours ( that’s like running from Sheffield to Paris and back to London)!
And a big thanks to Annie for helping with tonight’s run and making everyone sweat.

**Raindrops keep falling on my head
After a briefing and quick warm up helped with my lovely assistant Ash, we goodgymers braved the rain to support Heeley Development Trust at Heeley People's Park. Tonight we mulched a plenty, topping up around the Sheaf boulder and children's play area paths with working Smarter (not harder) Serg leading the way in minimising mulch travel distances passing the mulch buckets over the fence.
On completion of the task we headed back to the Showroom, with bus stop rain shelter squats sets along the way.
**Sunday, Monday, - GG days, Tuesday, Wednesday - GG days, Thursday, Friday - GG days Saturday - what a SmallParkBigRun Day, Rocking all week with you!
We have a whole week of goodgym activities ahead every day this week - check out the goodgym website group runs (and community missions), training sessions, races and parties :)
How many goodgymers can you fit into a soaked spiralhug? 15 goodgymers celebrated the rain to provide a goodgymertastic hug with Tall Tom at the centre of it :) :)

It’s the 30th anniversary of the Trans Pennine Trail. Sheffield has approximately 17 miles of National Cycle Network and growing, much of which is also part of the Trans -Pennine Trail. The Network enters Sheffield from the north at Grenoside and leave the city to the East at Rother Valley Park and to the West at Ringinglow. More info can be found here: https://www.transpenninetrail.org.uk/sunday-30th-june-2019-30-on-the-30th-part-of-our-30th-anniversary-celebrations/
We had several GG Sheff newbies amongst the 34 runners at tonight's sesh: Anna , Joe Waller, Sy Atchana Fu and Jonathan Dick. Hope to see them at plenty more runs in the future - make sure to give them a cheer!
It was also Gilly Harris's 50th good deed! She wore the now-classic 50th bowtie with pride. Amazing work Gill!
Tonight's task with Sustrans took us to the old Durham Ox pub. Luckily, this is quite a short route as we had some runners who had completed races at the weekend, ranging from a 10k to a marathon (well done Bee!). With our fun to the location being very short and very straightforward, we arrived in good time and were greeted by Simon, who delegated tasks and tools to the group.
Armed with litter pickers, brushes, spades and loppers we soon turned a rather sad looking stretch of the National Cycle Network from a nightmare into a cyclist's dream. Turns out a thirty-four-strong group can make a massive, massive difference in forty minutes (which we knew already, but it's always nice to see). We were spurred on this time, of course, by the presence of an ITV crew, filming for a segment on Sustrans. Wanting to impress them, we upped our game!
After the excitement of the task, we returned to base, detouring slightly to the Sheffield Amphitheatre for a fitness session. The group split into the teams, and rotated round three activities: 1. Steel City Steps sprint 2. Box Jumps/Step Ups 3. Tri Dips
Confident that everyone had had enough exercise, we then headed back to the Showroom via the old bridge and across the station forecourt for some stretching, punning, and light refreshments...
Special shoutout to the wonderfully CREATIVE CHRIS DYER who came up with tonight's title. Puntastic.
