Jorge earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Jorge completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Jorge was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

GoodGym were back at 1KH Scout group today to carry on the work we started a few weeks ago. The plan was to continue building some raised beds for the scouts to use for planting veg, fruit and flowers.
5 GoodGymers got stuck in to the task, donning gloves and gathering shovels, trowels and pick-axes. The process involved sinking some long concrete slabs into the ground to create the beds. This meant lots of measuring, digging, troweling, re-measuring, re-digging, lifting, etc. A proper workout of a task but so good to do some heavy work and see the results after our efforts.
We were kept hydrated by some helpful cub & scout volunteers and once the beds were built we all tucked in to a proper scouting lunch of bacon & sausage sandwiches and a huge slab of cake. All very well deserved of course!
Great to have you over from Richmond, Rosie, and a very fond farewell to Jorge on his final GoodGym before he moves over to Paris. Bon voyage Jorge, you will be missed!

This week Emma, Jade, Jorge, Rachel and Dave met at the Quaker Centre to start their group run. A half lap of Fairfield Park and up the hill to Surbiton Library – the hill never seems to get any easier but Strava tells me that my time is getting quicker so the training is paying off!
We met up with Jana, Tom, Larissa, Laurel and Marie-Noelle at Surbiton Library, did a round of introductions and got straight to it. Our plan for this evening was to remove yet more ivy but on the other side of the path and have a general tackle of the weeds that had started to grow round the building. Glendale had kindly brought us some more plants so we could plant them in the gaps that we had created from removing the ivy.
The hour passed quickly – lots of work, lots of laughs. No broken spades this week as we had a mattox to mash up the thick ivy roots which made their removal so much easier. We finished up within the hour and said our goodbyes to some of the group and the rest of us went to the Albion for our monthly social.
A big welcome to Larissa who made it out on her second task tonight. Lovely to meet you – thank you for all your hard work. See you all soon!

Affter 5 Km run, ten Goodgymers went to the rescue of the Surbiton library to polish and beautify the outdoor areas. A pleasing task that was dived in three teams to optimise the time and get rid of ivy that affects the plants.
The chores consisted in untangling the ivy, weeding, sweeping, litter picking, tidying up with useful tools like brooms, forks, spades etc, which the group carried out with success.
Thanks to Petra that brought Easter chocolate eggs and hope to meet us again for a new task.
