We did it!!! For our 100th Group Run at GoodGym Norwich, I set a target of 50 people attending and we smashed it with our new record of 54!
If it hadn't of rained all day how many would we have had?!
Lots of new faces this evening so a big GoodGym welcome to Richard T, Jenny, Emily B, Lucy, Julia, Pete, Tricia, Paulo, Andy, Jade, Teresa, Shiralee & Caroline.
Emma M was completing her 10th good deed, Mel was completing her 50th good deed and Elizabeth was completing her 100th good deed - very well timed Elizabeth!
Trying to brief over 50 people and getting them in what was a very large circle was a mission in itself, we needed the whole of The Forum.
Hayley volunteered to be photographer, Bill was walk leader and Mel was back runner.
We caught up on race news and I thanked everyone again who volunteered and ran the EPIC Aylsham 5K on Friday evening. Don't forget on Friday 28th June you can volunteer at the EPIC North Walsham 5K or run the EPIC North Walsham 5K. It'll be worth it just for the medal.
The task tonight was to visit the Oxfam Charity Shop of Magdalen Street. Due to the weather, painting was out of the equation but there was still plenty to do. The had a small team stripping the wall ready to be painted when its dry, sweeping the shop floor, stairs & upstairs, sorting through CD & book sections, sorting through clothes donations and general cleaning up of the shop floor.
Due to the sheer amount of people, I made it an active night so those running were put into pairs and there was a 800-metre loop relay taking place so we didn't over crowd the shop so one of the pair had to do the loop then tag the other in when they got back.
There was a bit of a cat walk going on, with a few of us trialling some of the donations... some may be a little concerned with my attire but don't dis it until you try it haha.
After a good 35 minutes (which equates to over 30 hours of volunteering time!) those running headed off and we'd meet Bill and the walkers back at The Forum. The reason for this is that the runners were in for a treat... a little run up Grapes Hill and then the sprint loop in Chapelfield Gardens.
Back at The Forum we had a stretch and Elizabeth had kindly brought some cakes.
After that 18 of us finished the evening off down the pub before the heavens opened on the way home.
Thank you all for making the 1st 100 Group Runs a phenomenal experience, I can't wait for the next 100 :-)
Next week we're visiting Catton Park. If you don't want to run the whole distance you can meet us halfway or at the task.

Summer is definitely here as we all grouped together outside instead of inside The Forum.
We had 4 new amazing GoodGymers so a big welcome to John, Danie, Dave and Jake.
Cheska kindly volunteered to be back runner.
Congratulations to Emily for completing her 25th good deed this evening.
Sarah completed her 1st ever Half Marathon yesterday in very hot conditions... and still came out to run tonight, great effort!
Our member Hayley had arranged tonight's task where she works, The Clare School, which is for children with complex needs. It was nice 2.5km each way trip.
On arrival we received cheers and then donuts were provided to restore our energy levels :-)
The jobs were to tidy up the garden areas with the main focus on the sensory garden used by the students.
35 minutes later it looked like a transformed place, so many weeds (and probably the odd flower haha) pulled up in 35 minutes. I'm not even sure we've ever had such a gardening success.
Hayley took some awesome photos too, which meant I could chip in with the task more this week.
It was a task we sure left our mark on, I'm very proud of you all.
Before we headed back a few of us had a go on the slide, which the speed caught me by surprise as I went crashing on the floor at the end of it!
Robert then topped of the night with a supply of Lemon Drizzle cake ahead of his birthday.
Next week is our 100th Group Run! Let's break our record turnout so invite a friend or family member along as we visit Oxfam Charity Shop.

Tonight was our quarterly visit to Eaton Park, which on a fine sunny evening is just simply breathtaking! Masses of greenery with people playing Football, Touch Rugby and Cricket in different areas of the park.
Freya was participating in her 1st GoodGym experience so a big welcome to the group :-)
Sophie was doing her 10th good deed (well 11th actually as I forgot to announce her 10th last week!).
We caught up on the races from the weekend with various folk taking part in the Henham Festival of Running and the Dereham 10-miler.
Darren also announced he's raised more than £1,500 in sponsorship for Cancer Research from running the London Marathon - what a fantastic effort!
Bill was backrunner this week and Katy led parts whilst I got caught chatting to people.
On arrival, Stuart greeted us and went through the jobs that needed doing, which included sweeping the pond area, weeding in the cafe area, weeding around the band stand and a litter pick around the perimeter of the park. We soon assembled into little groups and off into the evening sunshine.
Myself and Bill couldn't resist a little bit of tractor tyre flipping in the cafe area.
After we finished, Stuart kindly let us go up to the top of the band stand to admire the view of Eaton Park from higher up.
The evening was finished with a nice trip to the pub :-)
Next week we're visiting Marlpit Community Gardens.

It's bank holiday, it's rained most of the day, Norwich City had their promotion parade in the city - you think everyone would go home and put their feet up for the evening... but no, not the 23 amazing volunteers who wanted to do a litter pick on Marriott's Way to make the city cleaner.
It was Becky and Laurie's 1st GoodGym experience so a big welcome to them both.
Hayley has now completed 50 good deeds so a black t-shirt should be on its way to you soon.
It was great to see Darren and Jen back after their virgin marathons at London and Bungay.
Being a shorter distance task tonight, there was a walk option so Robert kindly volunteered to be Walk Leader with Catherine/Katy back runners for the running pack.
We arrived on Marriott's Way to see their lovely new entrance gate, styled like a railway station like it used to be years ago. Adrian from Friends of Train Wood met us there with litter pickers, gloves and bin bags.
The team assembled into pairs and off they went round different parts to collect as much litter as they could. It was a difficult task as lots of the nettles and greenery have suddenly shot up over the last 2 weeks, making it more difficult to spot the lurking litter.
One group did find a little party area full of interesting things, one which influenced the pun but I shall not go into anymore details on that!
45 minutes later the team reassembled at the starting point and gathered all of the bags of rubbish ready for the council to collect.
We still had around 20 minutes so we ran up Grapes Hill on the way back before finishing in Chapelfield Gardens for the time trial, which we hadn't done for a while. Just as I was about to get the group lined up, Katy kindly reminded me last time we did it she said she would time it next time so I could run it... much to my original disgust haha, it was quite nice to actually be able to have a go at it myself.
At the end of the session, Bill & Katy handed out some of their home grown rhubarb before Bill found an old photo of him that looks like a spitting image of Elliott, so we all know what Elliott will look like when he's 70!
Next week we're visiting Eaton Park.
