This week we welcomed Zoe to her first Goodgym session and delighted to have a newbie on board we warmed up and headed off to the 61 football club, a 2.5km jog away.
On the way we were treated to a clear view of the partial solar eclipse and enjoyed the cooling effect of the dimming light on an otherwise hot evening.
On arrival at the football club Richard directed us to the newly built pitch-side dugouts. We grabbed the bucket of paint and rollers and got stuck in, turning the grey blocks a nice brick red.
Working close together we had a good chat and got to know each other a bit and catch up with all the latest in our lives as we worked away on the painting. Time flew and before we knew it the walls were red, time was up and we had to wash up and hit the road again. There's one more dugout to go so we'll be back to finish the job!

We had a good team out this morning to support the Friends of People's Park with their monthly litter pick, and it was lovely to welcome Petros Teklayi for his first ever GoodGym task. He teamed up with Lee and they were soon headed off into the trees to locate rubbish and recycling. Gill managed to grab the most interesting find of the day - a rather salubrious sports car , and although it was missing two wheels Lucie took a shine to it, and decided this was her new car! She and Dani headed off across the meadow, and Gill and Anthony went through the orchard and up and over towards Pope's meadow. Rachel joined with the Friends to keep things clean near the park area. We left the park looking neat and tidy and ready to welcome weekend visitors. Well done team. We hope that Petros has enjoyed his first foray into GoodGym and that he'll join us in many more missions.

Another sunny morning in Wardown Park and although it had seemed cooler as we arrived the temperature was soon rising. But this wasn't going to put us off. 3 and a half laps round the park and we all made sure we took advantage of the shadier sections of the route, enjoying the cooler air in the shadows cast from the trees. Run complete and we were all ready to start the weekend.

With heatwaves gone but summer still burning away without any rain, the young orchard at Wigmore Park was in need of a good watering as the trees were showing signs of stress, that is until we arrived in force to help Konni from the Luton Orchards project give them all a good drink.
After running to meet in the orchard our team of six went back and forth giving each of the 60+ trees twenty litres of water to get them through the dry spell. when they were all done Konni kindly refreshed us with some of last year's apple juice, made from apples collected from all over Luton!
Tonight was the first session for Andy who put in a strong run and made a good effort on the task, a very welcome new addition to the team, well done Andy!
