Tuesday night nine of us took on the Elthorne Park burdock and won. We got to Elthorne Park , gathered our tools and started clearing up the burdock plant. We cleared and filled two bags. We were joined by Salini who completed her first mission, yay! We may need to back in a couple of weeks to do some watering, so keep an eye out. Next week, we’ll be heading to Transition Community Garden to trim the hedges and brambles, so sign up!

A sub-group met up and jogged/chatted around a lap of the park first tonight. It was a humid evening but the chat flowed and the lap was completed in really no time at all. We collected tools, wheel barrows, secateurs and trimmers and headed off to the task. A spiky hedge then faced off with a gang of brave GoodGymers. The hedge was suitably cut back and - it was helpless in the face of this trim lot! The outside of the lovely Transition garden was restored to a tidy enclosure, protecting the peace inside for people of all ages to take a break and spend some time.
Tonight was Mike's 300th good deed - amazing, very well done, mate! He donned the traditional 300 GoodGym sash and thankfully avoided any health and safety issues with his secateurs!

Tonight five of us got together to help the William Hobbayne to clear their back yard of weeds.
We came we cleared, we conquered and we filled over 8 bags of garden waste.
Welcome to our new Area Activator Lesley looking forward to seeing you next week for more action!
We may need to head back at some point to clear the last few bits but we certainly made a good start! despite the onslaught of biting insects and spiky plants we survived to visit another session.
We even bumped into Harvey’s lovely cat Rufus on the way to the pub!

Lesley B Mukenge earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Lesley completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Lesley was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Another Saturday, another dangerous mission involving ladders and paint. We were back at the Hanwell Community Centre to paint the ceiling of their music rehearsal space for the second weekend in a row and this time with the help of our new Area Activator, Lesley who added a fifth pair of hands to the group.
Once we unpacked all of the kit, we realised there were only 4 paint rollers so one of us would need to be on paintbrush duty to handle the difficult bits in the corners. Once we got going, we soon finished the first coat and the ceiling finally looked white which was a huge achievement and we began the second and hopefully last coat of paint.
As we love helping the community centre and getting covered in paint, we decided to leave some of the second pass for another day. Look out for another community mission in your feed soon...
