Supporting a brilliant community event in Danson Park

Monday 17th November

Manish Kumar Sharma earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Manish completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Manish was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

A crisp autumn morning brought us out to Lesnes Abbey Woods junior parkrun for event #472 this past Sunday. We saw 44 fantastic juniors run, jog, and walk their way around the course!
It was a special day for our family, as my 5-year-old completed their first-ever junior parkrun and also joined me for their first volunteering role as part of the pre-event setup crew.
We absolutely loved getting the course ready and are officially keen to join the hi-viz team every week!
Another great Sunday spent supporting the community and the future of parkrun!

Great report Manish, and so lovely that your little one is already getting the volunteering and running bug!

Manish and myself were part of the high-viz team volunteering at Bexley parkrun this morning. Manish is one of our new members and was making his parkrun debut as a barcode scanner. A very foggy morning awaited us, but did not dampen our morning. Two GG members were running in the event, Sue Lee and Lisa Baxter; congratulations to Lisa who was running her 250th pr event.

Congratulations on your parkrun milestone Lisa! And well done Manish on your first parkrun event - you had a good mentor in Graham who is a seasoned hi-vis hero!

Indeed, Graham briefed me well and made my first task easy.
Wednesday 12th November

Manish Kumar Sharma has done their first good deed with GoodGym.
Manish is a now a fully fledged GoodGym runner. They've just run to do good for the first time. They are out there making amazing things happen and getting fit at the same time.

Last night we had a busy and brilliant evening celebrating Luke 's 50th good deed, welcoming Manish to his first, and doing a poignant good deed - helping Discover Welling take down the Remembrance poppies along the high street.
When we did this task last year it was a struggle cutting through the cable ties in the finger-numbing cold.
This time, thanks to the eco-friendly reusable ties we’d used to put them up, and a much milder evening, the job was far easier!
Afterwards we found a big table at the pub for a lovely social with eats, drinks, lots of chat and laughter.
As well as forgetting to take any photos during the task, it turns out that we missed a few poppies too. But Julie was in the area this morning and collected them in her highly appropriate Royal British Legion bag.
The poppies and cable ties will be safely stored away so that Welling can pay its respects again next November ❤️
