In a welcome respite from the intense heat of the last week Good Gym arrived at Woolwich Common for the monthly litter pick. I'm never quite sure if a good litter picks means lots of bags full of rubbish or the slim pickings that renew your faith in humanity a bit more. Today was more of the latter with most of us returning with relatively empty bags after an hour. The returns included the usual array of trash but todays highlights were some monopoly money and the longest tape measure your author has ever seen.

Three Goodgymers made it to Oxleas yet again to dig out a path that until recently was completely overgrown and hidden. This is our third time since March, and what a difference we’ve made! Except for a much higher temperature, today was exactly like the previous times. Cutting back trees and bushes, and digging through years of soil that had gathered on top of the path. A long and hot session later we could look back at maybe 15 meters of path that can finally see daylight again. A couple more sessions and we reckon we would have dug out the whole thing!

Yesterday GoodGym Bexley and GoodGym Greenwich helped out at Mama2Mama's Baby Bank where the task was to empty a storage unit ready for their big move to a new premisis. It was absolutely packed to the brim and showed some top level organising from the tiny team who run the bank!
We had to keep calm and crate on and formed assembly lines to organise what needed to be kept aside for the delivery drivers and what could stay put for now. And what an amazing array of lovely items, ranging from clothes, cots, beds and stock for the new cafe in Woolwich which we're looking forward to visiting in the summer! An hour and a half later we'd got most of the stock sorted and back in again.
Great job team- we certainly showed we can think inside the box.
That's a wrap.

There was soooo much woodchip. Westcombe Woodlands work us hard and certainly help us put the gym in Good Gym and this month was no exception.
7 Good Gymers arrived at the woods to be met by not just one but two gigantic piles of woodchip. Being the efficient team that we are we split into two groups with Bea, Cecilia and Marta shovelling the chips into containers for Ivar, Julian, Kerry and Mayuri to carry up the hill to replenish the paths.
After an hour or so the volunteers were amazed that we’d managed to completely clear one of the giant piles and to replenish a huge length of pathway. All the was remained was to enjoy a well-earned cup of tea.
