The (s)edge of reason

York Report written by York runner

Friday fun club assembled at Rowntree Park to help Stuart with a few tasks on his list. The main task was moving some more (and quite large) sedge plants and replanting them near the edge of the pond alongside those previously relocated by GG on an earlier task.
Elle and Jenna were tasked with moving some logs across to the store whilst myself and Lyndsey moved some empty plant pots in the garden behind the café (and rehomed a frog in the process).

Once the pots had been successfully moved we joined the sedge team and finished off the last couple of holes and helped get the largest sedge plant dug in.

Stuart has more tasks for us to do so we may be back again next Friday!

Don't Worry, Bee Happy!

York Report written by Laura Barrett

The Community Garden was looking great today with all of the tulips out. The bees were already enjoying the first few cornflowers and we planted some more cornflowers, sunflowers and honesty plants along the beds for them to enjoy later in the year. We also planted parsnips, leeks, fennel and lettuces straight into the beds and runner beans, french beans and courgettes into pots. The broad beans and radishes were already coming up from last months planting. We also tidied up some of the beds and trimmed around the edges. At the end we took some of the pots home to care for on windowsills and under glass ready to plant out later in the spring.
