Short on volunteers this week as a lot of the team and volunteer crew were taking part or cheering at the actual Great North Run today but it was still a great run in the north this morning!

I brought along the family - two new first time runners and 3 new volunteers!

A great day today tailwalking behind 44 junior parkrunners on the 100th event!

Great to see so many people and volunteers!

It was a lovely morning in Mowbray Park today for the 99th junior parkrun!

I was the course checker today and had the remains of a smashed vodka bottle to clean up to make the course safe for the kids.

I then was put through my paces as the tailwalker!

Looking forward to a special event - the 100th run! I hope you can join us!

Three intrepid GoodGymers made their way to Greenhill Allotments to help clear one of the allotments to make it more appealing and hopefully get someone in to take it over.

It was no small task and the roots seemed determined to defeat us. Forks, hoes and a weird twisty weeding thing were put to work.

A lot of effort and only one minor health and safety incident when a root gave way which led to a flying fist and an unlucky nose…. I forgive you!

Brilliant effort by all and we’ll definitely be making a return trip.

Good deed 1: tailwalker at Mowbray Park Junior Parkrun - it was a warm one, tough going with my little last place pal doing Sonic bursts every couple of minutes!

Good deed 2; litter picking in the park to make it nice and safe for our runners and for the park users. Saturday must have been Pizza and Beer in the Park night!

Good deed 3: part 2 of my leafleting task for Macmillan Cancer coffee morning.

On a very windy evening in Newcastle, thankfully Stepney Bank Stables' top yard has some very high walls and fantastic levels of shelter. The task tonight was to prepare the walls to be painted and, if time allowed (it didn't), paint them.

Three GoodGymers set to work scraping and brushing the walls to remove any loose material and dirt. Scott braved the ladder to extend the reach of the task. Quite a lot of material was removed from the walls, making for a successful evening.
