This week's fitness challenge was more of a challenge for the mind than the body. And it will continue into today....unheard of in GoodGym history!
A Strava art themed challenge was concocted, seeing as the last time was so much fun....and some of us were trying to redeem ourselves from our first attempts at Strave writing.
This week, each person was tasked with going out to write another letter again like last time. However, depending on what the third letter in their first name was, they would need to pick from a consonant or vowel. This part of the challenge was a little like Countdown...
So if someones third letter of their first name was a vowel, they needed to go out and draw up a vowel on Strava, if their third letter was a consonant they could pick any consonant to draw out on Strava.
There were some great ones, some interesting ones and some amusing ones! It was great fun for sure! And with so many of us taking part 20 letter to choose from...so instead of allowing just one word, a two word combination will also be accepted.
The two words have to belong together though so: sand castle would be ok......cow horse would not....clear? As mud right?
John, who is unable to leave the house, then suggested that he would join in by taking the winning person's scrabble points total, doubling it (we didn't specify miles or km really..)....and cycling that on his turbo trainer in one go....that was before he realised that 20 people has signed up....yep he is a man of his word though so he will still give it a go!
Whilst this was all going on, we had Janet hit the 10 good deed mark and has now joined the Task Force...Whooop! Well done!!
Hannah is on 49 good deeds and needs one mission to get her black t-shirt and I believe Karen knocked out a 5K PB...show her some LOVE!!!
Right back to the Scrabble. I'll write out the letter here....wouldn't want you guys to misinterpret any of the images....not that anyone would of course!

Thanks John!! So tell your client he beat all of us! But amongst all of us you are the champion! How fitting that it’s your score that you’re going to double and have a go at on the indoor bike!!! 48miles right??
Thu 30th Apr 2020 at 8:29pm
yeah.... 48 miles it is. It hurts even more that I've done it to myself Gonna do this Sunday morning if that's ok with everyone?

For most of us going out for a run is our chance to escape and we don't need a lot of encouragement to go and do it......fitness sessions or strength workouts at home are another thing however.
With this in mind the group decided that they would like to do a Zoom fitness session, hoping that seeing each other's faces and being together would make a fitness session more enjoyable than having to go it alone.
We agreed on 6:30, our usual group run time and that's when we all got together on Zoom and were soon seeing each other's smiling faces...except Andrea's who couldn't get past the bouncer at the entrance....."You're name's not on the list love, you can't come in!" After slipping him a bribe the 13 of us were finally together.
We did a little warm up of glute bridges, hamstring slides...those who had surfaces that were slide friendly...others like Laura improvised y using books to slide along carpet...where there's a will, (and a bit of imagination) there's a way!
The first challenge for the group was to try and complete the Bring Sally up challenge....A song by Moby called Flowers....where everytime the song said bring Sally UP you moved up and held that until the song said bring Sally down, then you held a the bottom. The options were, push ups or kneeling push ups or squats....none of them were pleasant options and it was a really hard challenge. I know doing the push up version I had to switch to kneeling ones and have a few breaks too...
After that we moved on to play some card games....where drawing a card with a heart meant we'd do mountain climbers, x2. So a 6 ♡ meant 12 mountain climbers. ♣ meant the number x2 in hip tap planks ♠ meant the number in lunges ♢ meant the number x2 in on the spot skips
Drawing the joker meant 10 burpees and drawing a face card meant 10 jumping jacks...
We didn't do a single lunge....and towards the end when we were getting tired we suddenly managed to draw a couple of jokers!!!
It was lovely to see everyone live and get our sweat on together again like in pre-lockdown days! We may have to do this a bit more regularly.
For next week's challenge we are back to running again! Stay tuned to find out what it will be.
