As I arrived towards The Forum I was praying several Good Gym runners would also be braving the rain this evening... it pretty much had been raining all day in Norwich non stop and it wasn't looking like it was going to disappear anytime soon... but of course the weather doesn't stop our runners at GoodGym, we go out in all conditions and in fact we had our 2nd largest group run so far!
It was great to welcome new GoodGym runners Catherine, Carl, Karen and Melanie.
Tonight's task was to move a big pile of wood at a Scout Group in Lakenham
Our run took us through the picturesque Lakenham Way, a route I myself have never been down before. Tonight's pace was pretty fast too, I was impressed with every runner and back runner Laura ensured the newer runners were well supported.
On arrival we saw a big pile of wood and were thinking "we ain't going to get all that moved surely!"
Alun greeted us and explained where it all needed moving to, our GoodGym volunteers got there Gloves on and there was never wasting time, they got stuck straight in.
The wood was in all shapes and sizes and my favourite quote of the evening was Lydia's "I've got a really long one".
The guys smashed the task and were getting a little excited that they might have an early finish (shame they didn't know what I had in-store for them).
Once we packed up and said thanks to Alun, we started to head back and this was when I announced we would (well they would) be doing a circuit session in Chapelfield Gardens when we got back... cue several moans and groans and offers to do other tasks at the Scout Group hahaha.
We arrived at Chapelfield Gardens and I did a quick head count to make sure no-one skived off. We started with a continuous circuit (AMRAP) of burpees, saints, star jumps and bear crawls :-) this was also the time where I was no longer anyone's friend. After this everyone thought it was all over... but I had other intentions so to finish up they had to do the 600 metre perimeter of Chapelfield Gardens as quickly as possible.
Another fantastic turnout and a great evening with an awesome bunch of people.
Details of next week's run ... get signed up :-)

Our 2nd Group Run at GoodGym Norwich took us on a 8km return trip to West Earlham Woods to litter pick to help get it prepared for a Woodland Walk there at the weekend.
We had 7 new runners this evening and several people who hadn't run for a long time so it was great to see them there to take on the challenge.
Rachel was wearing her new GoodGym t-shirt, which she got by becoming a member and if you haven't already you can do the same here .
Katy and Bill volunteered to be back markers.
After a warm-up in front of @TheForumNorwich on a sunny evening we headed off to West Earlham Woods... and luckily we didn't get lost... always a relief!
Everyone made a great effort on the way to talk to different people and the group became friendly very quickly.
We were greeted by Noel and his team as well as Andrew from the Eastern Daily Press. We didn't have huge amount of time so everyone got stuck in and cleared as much litter as they could... with many beers cans being collected!
On the way back Katy led off some of the new runners who really done fantastically well and should be proud of themselves. I put the others through a quick squat and push-up routine for a bit of conditioning before we caught the others up and completed the trip back together.
Another fantastic evening and great to see new faces. A few of us stayed for quick drink and wind down afterwards at the cafe at The Forum.
Details of next week's run can be found here . We will also be having a bit of a social afterwards.

Rachel Cubitt has done their first good deed with GoodGym.
Rachel is a now a fully fledged GoodGym runner. They've just run to do good for the first time. They are out there making amazing things happen and getting fit at the same time.

20 runners ran 4km to help garden, weed and litter pick at Grapes Hill Community Garden
Tonight was our Norwich launch run!
I have to say I was a tad nervous throughout the day but more excited as I knew I would have an amazing bunch of runners to lead.
Our local ex-olympic runner Paul Evans said a few words at the start before I welcomed everyone to the run. At the age of 56, Paul is going to take part in the Run Norwich 10km in August and hopes to finish in the top 10!
We were also graced with our gorgeous, local blogging sensation Carly Rowena who will be doing her own update so check her out on social media.
It was then picture time by the BBC and The Forum... I really need to practice on my action shots!
After a warm-up we head off on our 1st group run and took a 2.5km route to this evening's task. Paul was tail runner and Rachel helped me lead the group incase I needed to drop back for anyone.
We were greeted by Fran and Richard who had cake lined as an incentive for us to work hard.
The BBC were there taking photos and interviewing some of us, including GoodGym's very own Ruth who at one point I thought was taking part in a glamour shoot haha and not doing her weeding.
Carly and Rebecca had the tough job of shovelling a whole compost heap into a bag.
After 30 minutes of hard graft we had a quick refreshment and then went straight into a running effort up the steep and prolonged Grapes Hill... everyone made it up alive.
We stopped off in Chapelfield Gardens for a 600 metre effort timed effort, which we'll look to repeat on a regular basis.
It was then back to The Forum for a stretch and for me to dish out the remaining cakes.
Rhianna had her docs verified for a DBS check so she can attend our Coach and Mission runs too!
A massive thank you to all that made of 1st GoodGym run in Norwich a fantastic occasion and I hope to see you all back again soon!

What a great introduction to GoodGym! Thanks for an enjoyable evening... gonna have to get used to all this running socially in groups after running solo all my life but plenty of time for that. Excited to be picking up a few gardening skills along the way too :-)
