26 excellent runners face INCLEMENT WEATHER on way to Vauxhall Foodbank, before completing the stock take in record time and running (swimming) back again
Another Tuesday in July where the weather was against us. The train station warned of inclement weather and they weren't wrong. There was work to do in Lambeth, however, and luckily 26 runners pulled on their running macs and got on board. One of those runners was Victoria, who hit her 50 good deeds - NICE!
We ran the 2.5km down to Vauxhall Foodbank where we were quickly organised into 4 teams. Two teams went with John and Katie to do some core exercises and the other two got to work taking crates off the shelves and getting them weighed, before taking them back to the store room. There was a lot of stock to weigh and we got it done in record time!
On the run home, there were some lovely comedy moments where coaches drove past us and splashed water up to our heads!
It's like being on the log flume! Said Katie
On return, we gathered up our belongings and squelched off into the night, happy with another great week of running.

23 TERRIFIC @GGSHEFF runners ran 6km to help CADS continue their renovations of the Abbeydale Picture House.
#GGBBQ
After an amazing premier #GGBBQ at the weekend thanks to the small but mighty Kim Longbon our crew reunited at our spiritual home of the Showroom Cinema to try and reminisce of the shenanigans that took place on the Sat just gone. Beer pong was played, dead arm hangs and face scrapes were had, eyebrows were singed, legs were stretched, eyes watered and many a laugh was had! We look forward to the report from Kim and to the next #GGBBQ2 being hosted by Sensational Sam in Aug - watch the Watts App group for more info and on the parties section of the website!
The run!
Taking a slightly longer route this week to the APH to mix it up we ran as a oner with newly qualified Leader in Running & Fitness (LiRF) Smooth Stephen as our back marker. We ran to the Picture house and met an additional 4 runners at the venue.
After a brief brief and a quick drink we got straight to work with the tasks in hand which this week was mainly lifting and shifting and painting tables ready for them to be used in the new working space. We took the task owners by surprise finishing the task ahead of time with so many people on hand this week with such a strong work ethic!
Challenge time
It was too nice to exercise inside this week so we heading staight to a local park to try out the Cultured Carys 2min straight arm hang challenge of Cliffhanger fame! A real group effort was made with everyone logging a time to beat for the future and some great team bonding and cheering happening. Top marks to Lovely Lilli who smashed the challenge, holding for over 3 mins! Must have been a monkey in a previous life!
The return leg
After a quick 60m sprint we ran back to our base with an uphill sprint at the end followed by stretching and a debrief which this week included the introduction of #pinupchallenge with everyone taking away some GG leaflets to pin up in their places of work or other places they frequent to get more people getting fit and doing good. Don't forget to post your photos on the WattsApp group with the #pinupchallenge.
Next week we are off to Heeley City Farm so...
Don't delay, sign up today!

22 runners ran 6 km to help Streatham Wells Primary School and the Friends of Kennington Park.
A huge congratulations to Michael for securing June's Shit Prize of the Month. He's been putting us all to shame on the distance board racking up an amazing 122km so far this month. And now has not one, but TWO Glastonbury 2017 programmes as reward for his exploits!
With some positively torrential rain battering it down throughout, we all made sure to bring our best primary coloured waterproof gear. With Jim in particular looking prepared for some biblical level flooding.
Team 1 headed up to Streatham Wells Primary School. Tom Hunter tells us all about it: After running up the hill with rainy training montage intensity, we were met by Richard who showed us an area of the garden that was in need of a bit of a spruce and tidy up. Careful to avoid binning all the children's lovely hand painted earth stones, we made short work of the mess and had the whole place looking good as new in no time.
Team 2 headed down to Kennington Park. Beth Hoskins gives us the lowdown: 12 of lambeth's finest Took the flat option this week and ran 2.5 K down to Kennington Park. We were helping the friends of Kennington Park give the place the once over before an inspection tomorrow. Most of us were on Team Litter and armed with litter pickers and bags we picked up all the sweet wrappers, cigarette butts and bottle tops we could find. Team Shears headed to the perimeter of the park to trim some overgrown beaches that were trying to escape out of the railings and came back with a whole shopping trolley full of clippings. Finally there was Team Secateurs who deadheaded the roses and made sure they hadn't taken too much of a battering in the heavy rain.
Then it was time to speed it home and daydream about that lovely warm cup of hot chocolate we would have when we reached shelter. A huge well done to everyone who still decided to come out to do some good in such conditions! As you can see from the photos, John G was traumatised....
