We welcomed 2 new runners along this week. A big GG welcome to:
This week was a new task to help sort clothes at Sanctuary, a charity helping asylum seekers and refugees.
We met Anna who told us about the charity and the task for the eve and we got stuck straight in sorting a load of bags into keep and not keep piles and then categorising even further.
The best find has to go to Rachel and her 'Sequined Fez Helmet'
After the task we took in some of the Sheffield beauty spots with some playground inspired games before heading home to stretch off and take one random mans advice to go for a pint!
Until next week, happy running!

Our clothes bank provides a vital resource for people seeking sanctuary, especially in the winter months. As asylum seekers are not able to work or access public funds, our clothes bank supports people and their families to meet their basic needs.

It was wetter than an otters pocket tonight, but we didn't let that dampen our spirits!
Third time was the charm for Ship Shape. A quick knock on and we were in to the welcome warmth of the inside and the smiling face of Tanya from Ship Shape who showed us the way to the beam room which was to be painted.
We got straight to it, unwrapping fresh rollers and trays and popping fresh tins of paint for a fresh coat of paint! With the taller of us getting as high as we could and the shorter of us getting the lower levels it was no time at all until the room was looking like it had been subject to 60min makeover!
We said our thanks and goodbyes to a very appreciative Tanya and headed back out into the wet to meet with Lucy and Michelle who had done the sterling job of doing some litter picking in the rain as we'd run out of rollers!
On the way back we took refuge in a well lit underpass and took created the 'Wall Sit Centerpede' where we all lined up and wall squated whilst one at a time each of us lunged to the end of the line until we'd all had a go. There were some very stylish lunges seen.
Once back at. base we again headed for cover to stretch off, hear news and head in for refreshments.
Thanks to all that made it out in the wet eve and until next time, happy running :)

On a cold and crisp Sheffield eve 13 brave runners headed out to help litter pick on and around Chatham St down by the Riverside pub (good pub).
Even before arriving we could see in the distance, up the hill a waving litter bag which was held by MARVELOUS MARTIN and COURTEOUS KAREN, who welcomed us and gave us our instructions for the eve which was to litter pick around a triangular area and then head up ROCK St to clear as much as we could up there.
We grabbed pickers and bags and got to rocking and rolling, moving and shaking, picking and flicking!
Amongst the usual items, we also found some choice items, including:
Once we had done what we could in the time we had, we headed back to where we started to leave a number of brimming bags, ready for the council to collect. We said our goodbyes to the team and headed in the direction of home.
On route back we stopped by some lovely lit blocks for a bit of a fitness Bloc Party! We got paired up and whilst one person sprinted around the outside of the blocks, their partner completed a block based exercise and then we switched. This week we focused on:
Once back we got stretched off and headed into The Showroom for some refreshments.
Until next time, happy running :)

What a turn out!
Great to see so many people out at the start of the year.
Big welcome to Rose who came along to her first group run, hope you enjoyed it and will be back for more soon Rose!
Also, big congrats to Curly Cat for reaching her 50th good deed, she had the honor of donning the now customary bow tie that she wore with poise and prestiege.
This weeks task took us through some more urban environments and even past a car crash as we were running (we do like to turn heads). Nice one to Steve and Eugen for being witnesses/peace keepers!
We met with Sustrans Simon at his lock up where the tools we get to use on the regular are stored ready for our and other Sustrans volunteer activities take place. Simon thought it would be a great idea to thank the local community for hosting the tools their by clearing up a bit of the surrounding area. So we got to it, collecting much rubbish and some gems such as a £20 note which will be donated by Simon to Sustrans and also some questionable looking dools - see photos...
We also helped assemble a new bicycle trailer for other Sustrans volunteers to use to help upkeep the network and made a start assembling some storage shelves for the lock up.
After downing tools and thanking Simon we took in Church/Lecture theater to do some paired activity where one person would run around the church whilst the partner got 10 squats in. 2 rounds of this each and we headed home for stretches and drinks at the Showroom.
Until next week, happy running! :)
