Ants, Rants & Bants

Leeds Report written by Laura

What a great evening we've had with the GoodGym Leeds gang tonight.

Compost moving, weeding & laying membrane were the name of the game up at OWLS allotments. There were also discussions about ants, cricket, musicals, football & Carole.

We then headed to Heart for a drink afterwards & discussed Sarah's interview tomorrow at BBC Radio Leeds where she'll be talking all things GoodGym. We can't wait to listen Sarah!

A Hot Messi

Leeds Report written by Laura

Tonight at GoodGym there was hope in the air about the world cup semi-final....

Before the disappointment of the England game though, we had a great session at Meanwood Valley Farm where we weeded four different areas. Andy, the Head Grower always says what an impact we make in such a short time. These summer sessions have such a great vibe & everyone was on top form.

Welcome to Eliza & Hal tonight, we hope to see you again soon.

Next week, we'll grab those summer drinks after the session. The pubs were far too busy for it tonight.

Meanwood Valley Farm - Various Tasks

We are a small charity with limited resources, so jobs like this often fall by the wayside. It helps us to continue to focus on our core work, but also with compost, it means we can have less inputs and save money

Sedimentary, my dear Watstone

Leeds Report written by Laura

What a lovely evening! In very humid weather, Helen led us up to Bedford Fields with a bit of Japanese style slow jogging...we got in formation & recreated the craze (& felt like proper wally's).

We met the rest of the gang at Bedford & got to work clearing the stones from the path. We then weeded the edges to finish the job.

We spent a lot of time chatting tonight...it was too hot to work. That's our excuse anyway!

Well done to Rachael on her 105th task tonight.

Look to the Western Sky...

If you know, you know...

I love summer GoodGym nights when the weather is good! Tonight the Leeds gang headed to Beckhill Community Garden to help clear a load of weeds in the orchard area. We cleared a large space & it really opened the space up. It's now ready for scouts & school children to come into the space without getting nettled.

My little dogs provided cuddles & entertainment which I think everyone enjoyed.

Well done to Joao who completed his 10th good deed last night & to Jason on his 90th! Amazing! We also said goodbye to Ross tonight, who is going on his travels. Good luck Ross!

Blown Away by the Yorkshire Coast

Leeds Report written by Laura

On day 3 of our camping trip, after Jason's breakfast station nearly blew Helen away, we headed first for breakfast at North Yorkshire Water Park & then to start our activities.

Half the group braved the wind on the lake for a relaxing canoe ride, the rest of the group were not so relaxed....

We put on our wetsuits to tackle the inflatable obstacle course on the lake. Monkey bars, high drops, slides & climbing frames were all part of the fun & I don't think I've laughed so much in ages! Alice was the surprise superwoman of the group, tackling high drops & climbing frames with ease, I however bottled the high jump & did the slide instead.

What a great way to finish the trip. We all stuck together & helped each other as we went. All in all, a great team building experience!
