What we had in the bag was a bit more of a source of debate as there was some confusion about what in the large root pile was meant to being bagged up. Mitch and Amy got bagging (something anyway) with the help of Debs when she arrived. Tay, Louise, Jenna, Ros and Laura carried on digging up roots and they were joined by Sarah half way through. There were some interesting debates about the merits of different insects and whether Daddy Long Legs were venomous. At the end we returned the tools to the carriage shed and Debs was impressed to discover that it was indeed a carriage. What's more it had a lovely big Goodgym G on it (although only one).

Sarah Nicholson earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Sarah completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Sarah was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Seven Goodgymers returned to the Holgate Community Allotment to continue to dig out the bramble and bindweed roots that had overtaken the disused allotment ready for the new community orchard. We welcomed Sarah to her first task. Helen, from the allotment group, filled us in on how the project was progressing. The group now have the grants they need for their orchard project and once the digging over is complete are planning to cover the dug over area over the spring and summer to stop the weeds growing back rapidly. They will then plant the fruit trees in the autumn which is the best time to plant them. We are all looking forward to seeing the fruits of our labour!
