IT'S SNOWING!!!!!
Just as it started to come down we got out and got to Common Thread @Union Street to meet Jessica who welcomed us in to the lovely warm space and took us upstairs to the sorting room with offers of hot drinks and snacks! We'll definitely be coming back!
The evenings task was to help sort clothes, shoes and accessories, ready for the upcoming clothes swap that's taking place this Sat 23rd Nov. We got stuck in, grabbing bags and sorting them to make sure items were in good condition and in the correct category.
We even made a SHOE MOUNTAIN before pairing these beauties up, ready for their next owners.
It was a fantastic task and one we will be going back to over winter which is ideal for some winter warmth and light!
Until next time, happy running! :)

8 Goodgymmers helped re fresh woodchip paths at a community garden/allotment. Learned a lot about names of flowers, when to sow seeds, plant and water them periodically. Great physical work shifting woodchips onto paths and making them more accessible

Many of our attendees struggle with very physical tasks such as this one and you will be ensuring that our community garden is safe, tidy and looking fresh for the new season ahead.

8 Goodgymmers paint the interior of The Regather space upstairs. Fun, laughter and various quotes were shared amongst us all. Lots of high walls were unreachable even with ladders and chairs. I did think of climbing up to paint but too risky. So we have to leave the high unpainted walls for another day to abseil if permitted. Paint looked yellow against the cream walls but when dried it looks white. We were all curious with the various shades of White but we did it successfully. Well done team!

It was the last official GG SHF run for 2024!
What a year it's been with plenty of tasks and good being done.
For our last group run of the year we were helping Sustrans with some very much needed leaf clearing of the path up at Manor way.
The path is a really good quality one and very wide compared to most active travel infrastructure, however the first chunk of the path is under trees which whilst beautiful does present leaf issues at this time of the year.
Never fear, GG are here!
We met with Sustrans Simon who already had tools neatly laid out ready for us to get stuck straight in with brooms, snow shovels and spades to move the soggy leaves from the path to make it safe and more appealing for all users.
We had some cyclists whilst there and if they weren't so stunned by our lights on the path and the sterling clearance we had provided I am sure they would have thanked us unreservedly.
Well folks, that's a wrap, hope you all have a fantastic Xmas and New Year and see you in 2024!
Happy running :)

We had two new runners join us last night, a BIG GG welcome to:
Give them both a woop, hola, cheer and a follow!
Both Alba and Tom enjoyed the session and said they would be back for more, so it will be great to see them again soon!
This weeks task was a great one up at Heeley City Farm where we met Julie Blacker at the office, who gave us a quick run down of the evenings activities. The task was to move big wet logs from the bottom of a field, up and out of the field and into a poly tunnel where they can be dried out and cut, ready for sale to the public, with all funds going back into on site projects.
It was slippery under foot in the field where the logs were stacked so the first job was to lay down some scaffolding for us to walk and wheel our way across with barrows full of wood. We love a good plank at GG, so this was no probs at all.
We all managed a good number of loads with minimal spillage along route. We even had time to check out all of the animals on the farm including pigmy goats and pregnant pigs!
Julie was very thankful to us all and passed on her thanks from Nigel who is normally lumbered with this job..
Until next time, happy running! :)
