Tonight we headed to St Saviour’s Church for a task that was certainly long overdue! Armed with a giant extendable duster, we tackled the eaves, which looked like they hadn’t seen a clean in about a hundred years! 😂 It was a bit of a reach, but we got them all cleaned up and looking much better. We were also treated to a lovely soundtrack while we worked, with the church choir practising nearby. There’s something rather special about getting a good deed done while enjoying a bit of live music! A big thank you to Liz, Steve, Nick and Kat for coming along and lending a hand. Great work, everyone! Next week we’re off to Bernards Heath for another evening of doing good in the community. Looking forward to seeing you all there! 👋

Tonight we headed back to New Greens Community Garden for our final evening session of the season, as the nights are rapidly drawing in and the light is disappearing far too quickly! But we came prepared… head torches on, shears in hand, and ready for action! 🔦✂️ We got stuck straight in, cutting back all the bushes that were creeping over the fence, pulling away all the vines that had taken hold, and generally giving the boundary a much-needed tidy-up. We also tackled the less glamorous jobs — picking up all the dog poo 💩 and giving the seating area a good weed. Joining us tonight were Liz, Steve, Cat, Nick and myself, with our resident ray of sunshine Danielle there as always, keeping everyone cheerful! It was a great way to finish our evening visits to the gardens for now. We're hoping to get back for some weekend sessions, and of course we'll be back once the lighter evenings return in spring. A big thank you to everyone who's helped out at New Greens over the season — it's been brilliant seeing the garden take shape! 🌿💪

Tonight we headed back to Bernard’s Heath for a bit of litter-picking — although, with the summer holidays in full swing, our numbers were looking a little… selective! 😂 It was me, Steve, Liz, Ramonah and Frankie representing GoodGym tonight, and despite being a smaller squad, we certainly weren’t going to let the lack of numbers stop us. Thankfully, Bernard’s Heath was looking pretty good, so there wasn’t a huge amount of litter to collect. But we believe in leaving no crisp packet, bottle or random bit of rubbish behind, so we picked up every last little bit we could find. 💪 The litter picking may have been relatively light, but the giggles and general nonsense were definitely plentiful! 😆 It was another lovely evening out together, getting some fresh air, doing something useful and, most importantly, having a good time. A big thanks to Steve, Liz, Ramona and Frankie for coming along — especially during the holiday season when everyone seems to be disappearing off in different directions! Next week we’re heading to Verulamium Park, and hopefully we’ll have a few more GoodGym faces back from their holidays. We’re already looking forward to seeing everyone again! ❤️ Until then… keep running, keep helping, and keep an eye out for those rogue bits of litter! 🏃♀️🗑️

Another glorious Tuesday evening saw us head over to New Greens Wild Garden, where there was plenty to keep everyone busy! Armed with watering cans, we gave as many thirsty plants as we could a well-earned drink. Then it was time to put those GoodGym muscles to work, shifting piles of rubble over to the nettle pit. Who needs a gym when you've got a wheelbarrow? 💪 Meanwhile, Frankie expertly tackled the hedge, leaving everything looking neat and tidy. And just when we thought the evening couldn't get any better... out came the homemade flapjacks! 😋 They were the perfect reward after a fantastic session of teamwork. A huge well done to everyone who came along. The garden is looking better every week, and it's always a pleasure to spend an evening making a difference together. Hopefully those flapjacks become a regular feature! 🍰

The Romans would have been proud of us this evening as we gave Verulamium Park a well-deserved clean-up!
It was a beautiful evening spent diving in and out of bushes in search of litter. Nick Nickmade the most unusual discovery of the night with a discarded pair of pants, while SteveStephen somehow managed to find more dog poops than anyone thought possible!
Despite the interesting finds, there was plenty of laughter, great teamwork and another fantastic effort from everyone. We left Verulamium Park looking the best it's ever looked.
Well done, gang – another brilliant GoodGym mission completed!
