A muggy but beautiful evening in Bath for our fabulous 14 runners on a mission combined with a 4K run to A hidden gem of a heritage site at Cleveland Pools, the task was to weed to our hearts content in preparation for their Heritage open days this weekend details on their Facebook page. Well worth a visit.
A few new faces tonight, so a big shout out and welcome to Lucy and Steve on their first Goodgym run, I even had time to chat about everything Goodgym before we got started and our resident reporter arrived on time. Introductions during our warm up and headcount (we got to 7 tonight then it all went wrong) before heading to towards the canal for a mostly flat social run with a few additional bits out to our task destination.
We arrived in plenty of time and our host Sally was ready and waiting armed with tools, brushes and gloves. A brief talk on the pools history to start, it is Baths most exciting Heritage site and then it was all hands to the ground for a full 40 minutes of weeding.
Splitting into groups with sweeping and weeding around the main pool, a few eager ones jumping into the small pool (don't panic it was empty) and the remainder of us tidying the upper path area of anything that looked remotely like a weed, well that was the idea.
A few time reminders from Steph to keep us on our toes and get as much done as possible but as always another great job done in a short space of time. Of course we left a minute or two to get that group photo and thanks our lovely host Sally for allowing us to come and help.
After bidding the pools farewell we picked up the pace for a shorter run back with some looping for the front runners before arriving back at base for a stretch out and reminder to bring your ID to the next group run so you can get paired up with your very own coach.
Thank you Pascale for back marking and Joe for tonight's pun. Your all amazing people doing a great job in your community so be happy and feel proud,

What a beautiful evening to run up a GERT BIG HILL, well that's what our trainer Steph thought. although I'm sure the 20 strong team in Bath had other desires in their minds. A great 6k run with 3k of this being a steep climb but as they say what goes up must come down.
A very warm welcome tonight to Lucy, Nick, Helen and Kim, it was great to see so many new faces along and a warm welcome to Jo who came all the way from Finland to be with us tonight (a girl can dream)
GoodGym Bath stepped out of the spotlight of the regional news this week and headed up to Odd Down cycle circuit where they provide many cycling session for all abilities including the Wheels for All who have specially adapted bikes, so from children learning to cycle through to the disabled its the place to be seen on wheels.
The hill up is never an easy one but splitting into two groups for this one Pascale leading out first followed by the next group and boy they were made of TUFF STUFF tonight opting for the BEAST (Holloway for those who are familiar with this steep hill) with a regroup at the top in the form of squats before taking on the next hill much longer but less steep with a few walking lunges and hill sprints thrown.
Felix was there to greet the group and soon identified two keen cyclist in the group to take charge of the CLIPBOARDS whilst the others checked the bikes over for any faults in a super safety check with a chance for a ride (at their own risk) In all we checked over 47 bikes for Felix and the group had some fun. It was a struggle to get them to say goodbye to this task and put the bikes away with just enough time to head back down to the leisure centre for a much needed stretch out.
Thank you to the clipboard boys Nick and Ben Thank you Pascale and Emily for supporting the groups and myself. Thank you Felix for allowing us to come along and help again. Thank you Google for the pun. Thank you everyone all blooming amazing people.

WOW... what a beautiful evening to be out and about with 10 AMAZING people in Bath on a Goodgym run picking up litter in Alexandra park after climbing the notorious JACOBS LADDER to the top and I forgot to count how many steps but boy was it worth it, the pictures really don`t do it justice with tonight's run taking a sweet 7k.
A very warm welcome to a fellow Turk Tayfun who has joined us tonight and I have to say what an amazing job he did for his country. Lovely to see Anna back tonight after being poorly and she came up with tonight`s pun.
To cut a long story short tonight's task for the homeless was cancelled at short notice so our injured trainer Steph (who fainted on the stairs at home on Saturday and knocked herself out cold) was very happy to have the lovely Pascale along tonight to assist with a change of plan and route ... Thank you so much Pascale.
We held a quick discussion on which park to attend and John came up with the mountainous route up JACOBS LADDER to Alexandra park which opened to the public in 1902 to commemorate the coronation of Edward VII and named in honour of queen Alexandra. We grabbed a breath and a group photo at the summit before splitting in BOYS vs GIRLS to litter pick for 15 minutes, The girls made light work of it finding all sorts of things headphones being one of the HOT PICKS and so took the title of most rubbish collected. Although Rob had his own little bag going on.
It was time to move on and head back down SHAKESPEARE AVENUE toward the TWO TUNNELS linear route heading back towards Oldfield park litter picking on the way before arriving at SANDPITS for some rich pickings and a chance for the group to have a fitness session using the equipment in the park, but I`m not sure Anne's pole dancing was on the cards and this gave the boys a chance to show off their upper arm strength with Ellen and Rachel using the see saw for squats galore.
We arrived back at the leisure centre in the nick of time and I have to say I feel very humbled to run with such an amazing bunch of people who are ready to work together whilst doing good in the community ... High five to you all.
