I've been part of Goodgym in Lambeth, London for over 6 years. I'm relocating to Northern Ireland in the summer of 2022 with my family and would love to take my experiences from Lambeth and help set up Goodgym in Belfast to support my new community here :)

Adam, Liv, Will and I got stuck into some light gardening to support BIG KID Foundation’s ‘January Jumpstart’ at Dexter's adventure playground. Will already works with Ruth and her team, so it was easy to get cracking with some brand new tools, tidying up the perimeter of the site. As we cleared away leaves, weeds, soil, branches and moss outside, local residents inside the event warmed up with some aerobics before being led through a singing workshop. It was also great to see kids enjoying the playground again.
Having filled more than 20 bags with garden waste, it was time for us to leaf*
(Leaf. Leave. No? 😬 )

It will be a great help to the work of this charity, it will also help to make the site more presentable and welcoming to local people.

William Nicholson earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
William completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, William was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Lambeth Report written by Samantha
Seven socially-distanced GoodGymmers turned up at Landor Road to meet with the aptly named Incredible Edibles and the equally incredible Landor Road Gardens. They have been working with doctors' surgeries in the area to help promote wellness in the local communities but, in these crazy Covid-19 times, wanted to flip that on its head – with local communities providing wellness to the doctors' surgeries.
To do this, they had created beautiful bunches of flowers for us to deliver to five surgeries as a way of bringing joy and showing thanks to each. They also had a smudge for us to deliver (which we all learned was a bunch of dried herbs that you burn to help cleanse and bring good energy!).
Armed with cards, flowers and a smudge, each pair gently jogged their deliveries across Lambeth – receiving smiles, smudge-induced confusion and even requests for songs (which John tunefully obliged!) from all the surgeries.
A lovely colourful mission for such a great cause and we can't wait to do it again soon!
