We were back at it again this week with team GG Brum. Tonight’s task was supposed to be helping out at Birmingham Mission, but on arrival the door was locked and a notice outside said ‘we are closed due to unforeseen circumstances’! Anyway after knocking on the door John came down to tell us they have had their big wheelie bin nicked, therefore they had nowhere to discard the food waste! Hence this weeks pun thought up by Laura. Anyway we had a chat with John and it was off to an earlier start than usual for the hill intervals!
Tonight’s session was eight minutes of running up hard and then easy back down! Balal led the way chased down by George and Liam. Stephen put in some great leg work up the hill. Laura’s arm action was excellent and Will put in some top effort as he powered up the hill. Once done it was picture time before the run back.
Due to our task cancellation, time was on our side, so we took a slightly longer journey back along the canal, covering a big 9k in total. Top stuff!
Next week we will be out doing good again, it would be great if you could join us sign up here.

Wills is a now a fully fledged GoodGym runner. They've just run to do good for the first time. They are out there making amazing things happen and getting fit at the same time.

Although numbers were on the low side tonight, probably due to the rather pants weather, we still had seven hardy souls ready to do good! Whats more we had three newbies. It's welcome to Milly, An and Will, great to have you with us.
Tonight's task was cancelled as Brum Mission unfortunately had a flood, therfore next weeks task was swopped with this weeks. That meant the group were running around the city centre giving out cards detailing SIFA Firesides services to the homeless. George did the back marking duties whilst I did the front. We took our usual route through the town, finishing in St Paul's Square ready for a circuit workout.
The fitness session started with press ups on the benches. An showing some great form, getting great depth on each rep. This was followed by the heart racing high knees. Milly was going great, getting some real speed up. Next it was squat jumps, John putting in some great work. We then did some tuck jumps, Will and George really going for it on this exercise. Then it was a quick sprint around the building, Rob led the way on this one, this was followed by the dreaded wall squat! The whole group doing amazingly well as those legs had already been worked pretty hard. The squad held the efforts for 60 seconds, with 20 seconds rest and then 70 seconds (I added on an extra 10 seconds at the end of this one!!). Then that was it with a few of the group walking slightly gingerly! Luckily they just had a short jog back to base.
Next week we will be out doing good again, it would be great if you could join us sign up here.
