Vicki and her son cycled 25 miles along the closed roads of London.
see pictures.

I completed the Essex London 100 and would highly recommend the event. ( various distances on offer next year)

After cycling from home at about 6.30am I joined the London Essex 100, riding through Trafalgar Square, the Mall and then joining the queue to start on the embankment. You get a rolling start as they funnel you from Big Ben along Whitehall to Waterloo Bridge. The ride itself was a total privilege as you cycle through car less London and Essex.( That alone is worth every penny of the entrance fee) Lovely villages with people cheering, offering food and drink along the route.

The course was generally pretty flat, undulating hills with the occasional stops at vital junctions to allow people and traffic to cross. It’s very well organised with plenty of toilets and food stations to rest and refuel. I passed the time chatting to people from all over the world, chomping my favourite sweets ( this explains why my crown fell out the next day ), admiring the views and voice-mailing my kids. There was a brief interlude of rain but generally conditions were good. It was great in so many ways to finish at Tower Bridge and after 6 hours and fifteen minutes in the saddle it was good walking again! ( even if with a strange waddle!)
