This evening 7 runners ran around Stockport collecting lots of litter........ Our task tonight had to be cancelled at the last minute due to weather issues, we were due to gloss paint, and it was due to rain, and so we had a quick plan change, and that was to clean up a few areas of Stockport that had a lot of litter.
Meeting at the usual location, Stockport Lifelesiure at 6.30pm, we set off with a spring in our step, it felt like a lovely spring evening, the sky was lilac, so all was good. Our theme of the evening is all about the exciting launch of Solihull, the 50th, YES 50TH, Goodgym location. Stockport was the 46th location to get its running shoes laced up, last September, so far we have battled through Autumn and winter are looking forward to some spring fair weather running!
As it turns out, the steps near the Station, have 46 steps!! which is our launch number, and so we did our warm up by climbing up and down the stairs. After our warm up, we collected 4 big bags of rubbish (and Sam pointed at a number 6!), from a pretty small area, a area that gets messy a lot, and as ever Im amazed at how much we get done in such a short amount of time. After task 1 we ran to the next task, as this time we collected 46 empty bottles/cans, we actually collected more than 46, but took a photo a 46 to fit the theme. For task 3 we ran to the local park and cleaned up a brambled area, and just as luck would have it there was steep hill for some hill repeats, of which we did 4, and a nice stretch of path to sprint down 6 times........
After that we had a "few" more stairs to get up before setting back to the start location, here was a cool down and a little stretch off.
Next week we are back to school, no detentions for us, we are doing our first spring garden work (at last!) we are our planting bulbs and sorting the local school garden.
Thank you everyone for tonights effort and helping to clean the community, Until next week, happy running,
Lisa
