Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
4 runners ran 8.2k and were joined by 3 more to perform a variety of tasks at the Easton Community Allotment.
It was a gloriously sunny morning, just perfect for a run along the Bristol to Bath cycle path to one of our favourite venues, the Easton Community Allotment, which as always provided a cornucopia of delights, where there is never a shortage of goodness to perform.
Dave, Sarah, Alice and Sion met up at Roll For The Soul and after a brief introduction for this experienced group we were on our way, stopping briefly on Castle Green for a pitstop (well you can't just ignore a row of portable loos can you?) and a quick watch of a community choir performing a rendition of Katy Perry's Firework (rather apt considering we were heading to a place where we had been clearing up after some fire damage during our last Saturday run there) we made light work of the run to Easton.
On arrival, we met up with Rich B, who was already hard at work with a saw on some thick branches, and Praminda and Richard S, who were getting their instructions from our host, the wonderful Cristina. One thing you can be sure of with Cristina is that she would have plenty for us to do and we were not disappointed.
Praminda was doing a fine job of litter picking, whilst Alice and Sion set about cutting back grass and weeds from the roadside edge of the allotment, with Sarah trimming a grassy patch within the grounds of the allotment.
In the meantime, Richard S and Dave set about clearing branches and brambles that had been left in the road, into a nearby ditch.
Following this Sarah, Rich B and Dave set about shifting some bricks and wooden sleepers, whilst Praminda and Richard S loaded wooden chippings into containers ready for use in the allotment.
At the same time, both armed with shears, Alice and Sion were asked to attack the grapevine (and yes everyone's pun radar went off at the same time!) that had rather taken over part of the perimeter fence.
The time flew by, such an enjoyable task, and what a wonderful way to celebrate Alice's 50th GoodGym run - you could say we were in Wonderland! Well done Alice, you star - see you in the black shirt soon!
Saying our goodbyes to Cristina and to Rich, Praminda and Richard it was back to base for celebratory food and beer, followed by a saunter back to Castle Green to watch a great bit of visual and musical entertainment, performed by Extraordinary Bodies, a leading integrated circus company.
Next group run is on Tuesday - there will be cake! Yay!
