Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Leeds runner
One GoodGymer made their way down to Bedford Fields to help run a Apple Pressing event which is all the rage in Leeds at the moment. The equipment was lent by Leeds Urban Harvest which included a scratter (destroys the cut up apples into even small pieces) and then the press itself which produced some lovely apple juice.
We had approximately 20 to 30 members of the public join and help with providing apples, cutting them up and the bits above. Everyone had a chance to sample the apple juice which many, including myself, thought was the best apple juice they've had. The juice was a dark maroon with small bits which must mean the shop bought ones must filter these bits out.
Though we had a lot of people around and the production line was in full swing, we still have several hundred apples left which i suppose might be expected when Henry turned up with six rubble sacks of apples and then the public too. It was a long day of physical labour but very well rewarded with three bottles of apple juice to take home.
