Date and time
09:45 - 18:00We’ll meet at Victoria (under the 'Meeting Point' sign near Platform 13 ) to get the 10:02 train from platform 18 to Seaford (changing at Brighton). Or if it’s more convenient, join us at Clapham Junction (10:09), East Croydon (10:18) or even at Brighton or Seaford!
This classic cliff-top walk – one of the finest coastal walks in England – affords stunning views of the white cliffs of the Seven Sisters, and the renowned Beachy Head, before ending in the elegant seafront town of Eastbourne. There is quite a lot of climbing and descending on the walk.
Take care near the cliff edges on this walk, as they are crumbly and liable to collapse: the official advice is to keep five metres from any cliff edge.
This walk is well served by Brighton city buses, which enable you to stop the walk if you wish to. The number 12, 12a or 12x bus runs from Seaford via Exceat and East Dean to Eastbourne, three to four times an hour on Sundays. See https://www.buses.co.uk/services/BH/12
Please bring a snack and some water. The Cuckmere Inn is situated 6.2km into the walk and the Beachy Head pub is 16.6km

Aaaah no, I can’t join as am leading a walk around Cambridge that day. Will keep an eye for the next one and looking forward to hearing all about the trek soon. Have a great time guys!
Hi John! How do we get home? Do we loop back and get a train from Brighton, or do we catch a train further up the coast? Thanks!
It depends whether you want to get a day return. I'll add more informative tomorrow
Probably best to get the train back from Eastbourne to Brighton, which are quite frequent and don't take too long. And the Brighton-London trains are fast. We could then get day returns.
Hi John
How far is the walk roughly? Re trains would it be a single to Seaford and a single from Eastbourne. Are you getting a day return - if so where would that be to? Thanks
A bit over 13 miles. I'm getting a day return to Seaford. After the walk, the plan is to get a train back from Eastbourne to Brighton (two per hour). You could a single form London to Seaford, then later get a train direct from Eastbourne to London, but this would cost more
I will meet you at Brighton. My train goes via London bridge and gets in 15 mins before yours.
We should be in the same train from London bridge
See you at Brighton
