Braunstone Alert saves the day

Friday 9th August

Written by Nick Pryke

We had nothing scheduled for this Friday so were feeling pretty lost, then b-inspired asked if we could distribute their Braunstone Alert community newsletter for August/Septermber. Stu and Nick were straight on it and enjoyed a good walk around the estate in the sun, and wind.

Everything is better with cake

Friday 31st May

Written by Sarah

5 GoodGymmers came to help deliver Binspired brochures, greeted with winter weather this didn't stop them.

We navigated our way to our delivery round to post the June/July edition of the B-inspired Alert through the communities doors. This brochure tells the locals about what events are going on, including information about Foodshare. The 8th time we have supported this task.

Dawn baked a delicious lemon sponge cake to the joy of the GoodGymmers, along with teas and coffees from B-inspired it was prefect, weldone all.

Roll up! Roll up! Read all about it

Friday 5th April

4 fantastic Goodgymers came for a morning walk to help deliver the Braunstone Alert, a brochure by the charity B-inspired, informing the community about the events they have and the valuable foodshare service they offer.

We worked as 2 teams delivering meeting back up at the end of streets with bungalows, more hands made for lighter load and the task was complete in no time. Brilliant to have Cliff join us today using one of his community days from his work, good to see you.

Although we missed Goodgymmer Dawn on the session she had made an amazing chocolate cake for my birthday for us to have a slice with hot drinks after the task, very much appreciated, her cakes are delicious!

Weldone everyone great to see you all keep doing good and keeping fit.

Hot off the press

Friday 2nd February

5 Goodgymmers came out to play to help support B-inspired deliver their freshly printed Alerts. Jimmy and Stu both ran to the task, and then ran some more to the delivery location and back again, lots of running for those two keen beans.

A different round to our usual with the aim to target bungalows with the B-inspired Alert, the community brochure telling local residents what groups are available to them, about current local news and what the food bank has to offer those in need, also has some easter themed crafts and colouring.

Welcome back Dawn great to have you join us again, super speedy on the delivering and congratulations on your 5th Good deed. We worked as 2 teams delivering meeting back up at the end of streets with bungalows, more hands made for lighter load and the task was complete in no time. Except for some bungalows on the way back to B-inspired, Stu being the gentleman he is kindly offered for him and Jimmy to do those whilst running back, Jimmy thanked him later.

Nick also did a spot of magpie litter picking on the way back, he found something shiny on the way back.

Weldone everyone great to see you all keep doing good and keeping fit.

Call of Beauty

Friday 8th December 2023

Written by Sarah

10 Goodgymers braved the cold start and headed over to B-Inspired Food Bank where our task today was to create beauty bags to gift to those in need in Braunstone. Fantastic turn out again for our second seasonal task. One of our new members from when we launched exactly 1 year ago, came along too Simone, pleased to hear you enjoyed your-elf.

Greeted by Nigel, he very quickly got the hot drinks order in and showed us to the pantry with 100's of Beauty products that had been donated. Nigel set us with the task of 50 bags to start with, the Goodgymmers cracked on, with Jimmy and David head of the table it was a fast production line and high on quality control too. Bags being passed down the line and each Goodgymmer quickly adding their product, with Simi at the end lining up the finished products, we were on a roll!

Before we knew it 50 bags were complete. With more time to give and more hands making for much lighter work the beauty supplies were topped up and more bags created, at least another 50, we were surrounded by beauty bags with no escaping before our group pic.

Fantastic efforts team and brilliant photos taken by Mel and Nick, B-Inspired pass on their thanks and they look forward to seeing us again soon, weldone all.

Chilli bean, runner bean, baked bean

Friday 24th November 2023

Today 8 Goodgymmers helped B-inspired Food Bank in Braunstone, one of the regular charities we lend a hand to. We were busy today sorting the tins in the crates to make an itinerary stock list. Special mention to our newest member Dawn on her first GoodGym task, hope to see you again soon, was lovely to have you on board.

This task helps the Food Bank to provide essential food to people in need within the Braunstone Community, which is a necessity. We split ourselves into 2 teams working on the right hand sides (as we had completed the left hand sides last week), sorting the tins into pea crates, potato crates ect. then listing how many tins, then also putting them back in date order.

Special day today as Dave came on his birthday! Happy birthday Dave and enjoy your Parkrun tomorrow in your new age catergory band.

Everyone put so much effort in we were finished before time was up ready for hot drinks and cake to celebrate Dave's birthday. Mel also presented my running awards from the Leicester Road Running League, 9 races through the year and I came away with some bling, Mel kindly collected them for me.

Fantastic team work all, really shows how more hands make lighter work!
