Wednesday 4th February

We made short work of the set up ensuring the space was welcoming and ready for guests. Then, it was time to get stuck into the kitchen prep, where we peeled our way through a mountain of carrots.

Lifting spirits (and a lot of chairs)

Wednesday 4th February

Written by Jade

There’s nothing like a brisk morning mission to prove you don't need a gym membership when there’s a church hall to clear. A quick stop at Martin Way Methodist Church tonight to help the team prepare for their first night shelter of 2026. Transforming the hall into a welcoming environment, setting out bedding and arranging the space to make it as cosy as possible for the guests. A heartwarming start to the year, ensuring a warm and comfortable night for those in need.

Written by Jade

We headed over to Faith in Action to help out with the lunch service today to fulfill a last-minute request as their volunteer team is a bit thin on the ground at this time of year, and honestly, seeing the scale of the lunch they’d served, they definitely needed the extra hands.

We spent an hour elbow-deep in suds, working our way through a mountain of washing and drying up. Once the kitchen was under control, we moved into the hall for the post-lunch workout: shifting furniture, vacuuming, and mopping the floors until there wasn't a crumb left. It was a solid team effort leaving the place spotless and we hope to be invited back soon.
