We headed over to Faith in Action to help out with the lunch service today to fulfill a last-minute request as their volunteer team is a bit thin on the ground at this time of year, and honestly, seeing the scale of the lunch they’d served, they definitely needed the extra hands.
We spent an hour elbow-deep in suds, working our way through a mountain of washing and drying up. Once the kitchen was under control, we moved into the hall for the post-lunch workout: shifting furniture, vacuuming, and mopping the floors until there wasn't a crumb left. It was a solid team effort leaving the place spotless and we hope to be invited back soon.

Henry the vacuum is fixed so an unexpected return to help pack up the night shelter and vacuum was impossible to refuse. We are friends once more :).

Representing GoodGym, I took on this mission solo - but I must admit, the help I received made the task much easier! Expecting a challenging job, I played my part in transforming the space into a temporary night shelter before the guests arrived.

Prepared for a chair-lenging task, but with an extra pair of Goodgym hands (thanks Rufu) we transformed the space into a temporary night shelter ahead of the guests arriving.

After loading the bags for transportation the main challenge was moving the numerous chairs that needed to be returned to their rightful places in the church. Eventually, every last chair was back in its designated spot, leaving the hall ready for the next service.

We arrived ahead of the evening shift team to help Tony with various set up tasks. After transforming the church hall into a temporary sleeping area with fresh bedding we helped with laying the dining area, creating a welcoming safe space for the shelter guests. Back in the morning to help pack things away and load the belongings for transportation to the next location.
