I volunteered as a marshal at Lesnes Abbey Woods junior parkrun, stationed at 'The Well'.
It was all about encouraging the children as they made their way around the course, giving out lots of high fives (technically high fours, or even high paws...) and cheering them on.
It was a really fun and positive morning, and I enjoyed helping create a supportive atmosphere for all the young runners.

Another brilliant sunny Sunday saw us back at Lesnes Abbey Woods junior parkrun! ☀️🏃♀️🏃♂️
Johnny was on marshalling duty at ‘The Well’, bringing the GoodGym energy with a big stack of cheers, encouragement and, of course, those giant red foam hands! 🙌🖐️
Sarah was on barcode-scanning duty, helping make sure all 64 finishers got their times and positions recorded. 64 runners, 64 barcodes, and not a single finish line left uncelebrated! 🎉
With the GoodGym duties done, it was a short stroll over to Chestnuts for a well-earned coffee, a good natter and the obligatory post-parkrun debrief. ☕️
Another lovely morning of cheering, helping and getting active in the community — just the way we like our Sundays! 💪❤️

On a grey but muggy Sunday morning, three GoodGym-ers headed down to support Lesnes Abbey Woods junior parkrun.
After the usual lively warm-up at 9am, and the presentation of this week's milestone wristbands, the junior runners were off! We helped the wonderful volunteer team with both marshalling, giving lots of cheering and encouragement to the participants, and tail walking, ensuring that everyone was accounted for.
There were plenty of smiles as everyone completed two kilometres in their own way - by running, walking, skipping, and jumping. A wonderful 57 juniors took part this week, including two coming along for the very first time and five setting new PBs!
It was a lovely morning all round, which was followed by a quick coffee at Chestnuts Cafe before we all headed onwards to a GoodGym social walk along the Ridgeway.

There has been a lot of heavy rain recently but it all stopped and the beautiful sunshine came out in time for junior parkrun this morning.
There was a good turnout.
The session started with a warm up that Joe Wicks would be proud of, wristband achievements were awarded, and then they were off!
Around 64 children took on the challenge and did a great job.
It was fun being part of the volunteering team that makes it all happen.
Until next time 👋.

Clocking in for the first time, one GoodGymer was on time today—literally.
It was planned: a more-than-5k run to Lesnes Abbey Woods junior parkrun to help as one of the two timekeepers. Because sometimes, it’s about giving it a try.
Set in a cracking location, the event welcomed 61 bouncy young runners - feet flying, smiles wide, and determination in every stride. Some with support from their mums and dads.
Three superstars hit parkrun milestones today, hooray! And from first finisher to final finisher, it was a run full of heart, effort, and a fair bit of woodland magic.
Volunteering like this is a powerful reminder that supporting the community is about giving a little of your time, stepping into a new role, and helping others shine.
If you’ve ever thought about volunteering, take this as your sign - there’s always someone to guide you, and a whole community waiting to welcome you.
