We were one volunteer down (last minute) for the clean-up after another busy food distribution session at Merton’s Community Fridge. And with the warmer weather in full swing, it was a sweaty one, but we cracked through just about every box and crate rolling up our sleeves to get everything back in order. From wiping down surfaces to taking out bins and helping with a much needed extra laundry load (thanks to the heat), we were done and on our way for the next job.

A last minute request for support at Merton's Community Fridge, was a varied session. From or handing out a wide array of items, from biscuits and soft drinks to much needed pet food and washing powder.
Afterwards the challenge of moving 2 crates of sausages from fridge to freezer and repacking kept things cool on a reasonably warm evening.

On arrival we were asked to support by briefing today's corporate volunteers on the various cleaning tasks. Whilst Peter continued with some of the cleaning Jade chipped in to help with the distribution of donated dry food goods. Unfortunately there was a "dairy" situation, a cream spill that needed a swift and thorough cleanup to prevent any sticky situations! We worked together with the extra hands ensuring to finish ahead of time; the early bird catches the next session 😉.

Tonight, Jade and Peter were on hand to support with the clean-up post distribution and pre Easter. With the eggs-tra pair of hands there was time to attack the often-neglected nooks and crannies behind the storage boxes. Armed with a vacuum and determination, a proper behind-the-scenes refresh was completed after a hands-on sort-through of cartons, egg boxes, and miscellaneous bits and bobs.

Spent an hour this evening lending a hand at Merton’s Community Food Bank — armed with gloves, a vacuum, and enough sanitiser to keep the germs on their toes. I took on the floor vacuuming duties and helped give the place a good scrub-down, from bins to boxes, making everything sparkle.

Spent the day helping out Merton's Community Fridge team - armed with gloves, a vacuum, and enough sanitiser to make any germ think twice. From vacuuming floors to tackling the bins and giving boxes a squeaky-clean glow-up, every little bit helps. Big respect to the team doing this day in and day out - heroes in high-vis!
