Spent an hour this evening lending a hand at Merton’s Community Food Bank — armed with gloves, a vacuum, and enough sanitiser to keep the germs on their toes. I took on the floor vacuuming duties and helped give the place a good scrub-down, from bins to boxes, making everything sparkle.

Despite a small crew and a mountain of boxes, we tackled Merton's Community Fridge, cleaning fridges and boxes and finishing with a thorough vacuuming.

With an intro to the new coordinator and a few extra volunteers we gave Merton's Community Fridge a thorough vacuuming and replenished the cleaning supplies, ensuring it's ready for tomorrows distribution.

Plenty to do today and as a treat we were offered the contents of some Felix food boxes; a delightful assortment of surplus goodies. Amongst the usual suspects, we discovered some intriguing items, including… a surprise (to some), taro root! This sparked conversations about recipes and cooking adventures. Who knew a fridge clean-up could lead to such culinary inspiration?

Everything went well we served and cleaned and packed down on time.
