This evening, our post-distribution cleaning team tackled the clean-up in record time! From scrubbing fridges and wiping down boxes to sorting recycling and stacking crates, it was a fast-and-furious effort from start to finish. Huge well done to the team for leaving the space spotless.

For Monday's group session, we were deployed across Merton's Community Fridge and Morden Baptist Church for a multi-front mission!

Working with strict tactical coordination (especially in the limited storage space), our three squads executed:

📦 Operation Storage: A military-precision evacuation of the shelves. The space was cleared, swept and scrubbed in controlled phases before items were strategically redeployed back into formation; a masterclass in spatial logistics.

💄Donation Sorting: Interception of a massive influx of makeup, systematically categorising items including lipstick and nail polish and boxing them up ready for the Christmas distribution period.

🧽 Kitchen Recon: Cleared drawers and shelves, scrubbing every surface to leave things fresh and inspection-ready ahead of an upcoming wedding.

Mission accomplished - a swift, highly organised operation that left the space deeply grateful. Well done team and welcome to Camila, Sarah, Usaama, Su and Robert on your first GoodGym session. We hope to see you again soon.

Another shift at Merton's Community Fridge to lend a hand with the post-distribution cleanup.

There was plenty to do wiping down and sparkling up the fridges before turning attention to the inevitable chaos of leftover boxes, rubbish, and recycling. Fortunately, with an extra pair of hands plus two additional family members pitching in, we made light work of the mess and had everything sorted in record time.

It was a squeaky clean session topped off with a milestone with the fantastic Merton/Croydon combo in action. It’s always great to team up with the superhuman Brenda - looking forward to our paths crossing again soon!

Tonight, the team got stuck into a double-deep-clean at Merton’s Community Fridge and Morden Baptist Church. A nice change from the recent sessions involving pulling weeds, we split into teams to tackle the jobs:

• The Storage Squad: clearing and cleaning the main storage area turned into a game of two halves. Phase 1: Clear out the cramped space, scrub the floor, and disinfect the fridge, freezer, and shelves. Phase 2: Figure out how to fit it all back in!

• The Kitchen Kings: While the storage squad scrubbed, a smaller team worked their magic in the kitchen, leaving the space absolutely pristine and ready for action.

• The Pet Food Pros: Meanwhile, others made a paws-itive impact by repackaging giant sacks of pet food into smaller, manageable bags.

• The Brave Bin Brigade: Outside, a courageous duo tackled what can only be described as the ultimate boss battle: the food waste bin. Enough said about that!

We mucked up (quite literally!) as fitting everything back into storage took us right into extra time, but we got there in the end. Huge shoutout to everyone, who stuck around for the final stretch!

What a way to end the day! With the of the team headinh over to the Community Fridge to tackle a mountain of crates and recycling. It was a perfectly timed operation: we had one early bird getting us ahead of the game, a solid middle shift of organising and box-scrubbing, and a late-comer to finish things off with a thorough vacuum. Crate teamwork!

A quick collection of surplus food from The Open Table created some storage space and it was a short distance to drop at the Community Fridge which will make good use of it at the next distribution.
