Tonight 8 GoodGymers ran 6km to support the Phoenix Centre. They needed a new coat of paint - 'Lime Zest' in one room, and 'Cotton Grey' in another.
I read a "Zest for life" is the energetic, enthusiastic, and optimistic approach to daily experiences, characterized by feeling alive, motivated, and engaged.
As a key component of positive psychology, it involves treating life as an adventure, enhancing resilience, and reducing burnout.
It can be cultivated through mindfulness, gratitude, and purposeful action.
Well I think that sums up a lot of what we achieve by volunteering at GoodGym!
Care was taken to complete the task without paint splashes or blurred edges. In an hour the green room was completed and the grey wall had its first coat.
We will be back with further zest next month to continue the paint job.

Tonight 8 GoodGymer's ran or cycled 6km to a community centre in Mile Cross.
Due to wet weather we had changed venues at the last minute - so thank you to the Phoenix Centre for accommodating us!
They cleared a room that needed painting with a fresh coat of magnolia. I was also able to bring some spare plastic sheeting to avoid drips & spills.
As a team we worked around the room with rollers & brushes, making full use of everyone's different heights whilst working in the same space. After an hour we had covered everything in reach, so we cleaned our brushes and tidied up after ourselves.
The good news is there are more rooms to do, so will be booking in a return visit!

After a wet and soggy Sloughbottom parkrun, the rain continued in the morning as we helped to clear a new community garden area in Mile X.
A new fence is securing the garden area, but before that can be completed, there was a large pile of DIY waste we needed to clear out of the way, as well as clearing areas within the garden.
As always we got stuck in straight away. I have to say, during all my all years of GoodGym Norwich, I'm not sure I've seen an overgrown area cleared so quickly. We really did make massive inroads.
We hope the project continues to progress and hop to contribute again in the future.

Tonight 8 GoodGymers ran 6km to The Phoenix Centre In Norwich. Although the task leader was unable to attend at the last minute, we made the most of a sunny evening and pulled up weeds along the perimeter walls and flower beds. Shout out to Kate who joined us on her first GoodGym session. After 30 minutes we had successfully filled 3 black boxes full of weeds, without any instructions needed we completed a worthy task. Well done all! An enjoyable Bank Holiday Monday.

Three GoodGymers turned up by foot and bike to release the railings outside the Phoenix community centre ready for a future paint job. After an hour spent pruning, pulling and sweeping the front of the centre was all tidied up and railings that were once entangled in plants that had been thriving in the recent warm sunny, and sometimes wet, weather were visible once more.

The Phoenix Centre was our destination on a lovely bright Tuesday evening. I arrived and was given instructions of what was needed, a tidy up all around the edge of the building which had become very overgrown. I waited the arrival of a new Goodgym member on their first Community Mission. Jayne arrived on her cycle, I was pleased to see she had brought her own tools., as the centre hadn’t got the required equipment needed for this task, result! Introducing ourselves I discovered our new member was the Mum of one of Norwich’s original members Rob who’s a Goodgymer in Leeds now, welcome Jayne Riley mum of Rob, we’ll look after her Rob. After an hour of hard work we admired our handy work, spoke to the Centre admin about emailing us to-return another evening. Photos taken, we said our goodbyes and ran/cycled to our homes
